What should I eat which is affordable during this cost of living crisis?
A sausage roll is £1.45 it's getting ridiculous!

Not sure what prices are like in your country but when I was eating on a very tight budget I was only doing eggs, milk, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and once a week i did spagetti with meat sauce. Add whey protein if you can afford that since you will most likely buy it only once a month.

Kill Jews until the government starts listening to the demands to remove migrants, then continue killing Jews until none remain. Build a memorial to Cromwell as Britain's worst traitor in history. Food and housing will be plenty affordable by then.

My mantra is as follows:
>Rice, $10 for 8kg
>Chicken breast, $20 for 2kg
>Carrots, $3 for 3kg
>Potatos, $5 for 8kg

That is more than a week's worth of food, and the only thing you'll probably reliably need to replace is the chicken. If you actually look around you can get cheap foods. Sometimes boxes of tuna go on sale so I can buy like 30 cans for maybe $15 (And no, I'm not American)

In UK - raw chickens from Lidl are pretty cheap, get 2-3 depending on how big you are / protein requirements.
Cook 'em in an air fryer. 1.3kg=190C 21mins - turn repeat.
Most of the fat just falls out.

Remove skin, bones and chop 'em up and mix with cooked rice.
Eat it as is, in wraps, sandwiches... add veg for fibre - lettuce whatever.
Add sweet chili sauce or low cal mayo or whatever for taste.

That's about as cheap as I can think of.

You know those gigantic bags of food they have on the bottom shelf at the supermarket? You know you can take them home for cheap and cook them, right? Rice, flour, beans, oatmeal - just one bag will last you months if you spread it out between meals. Then you can buy those gigantic bags of potatoes, onions, carrots to spice it up a bit since those things keep well for a while. All the bulk items are surprisingly good for you.
Going forward as the economy slowly crashes most people will need to learn to do as much as they can for themselves. Learn to bake bread and learn how to properly season food. Save your money, cut out the middle man Jew. It's fun to cook and be self-sufficient.

Fellow bong here.
Do you have access to a farmfoods or similar freezer shop?

Mine does 1.2kg sacks of pre-cooked sliced chicken for £7. If you're less picky about fat content you can get big bags of thighs for even less.

They bulk sell tuna for about 60p a can.

Weirdly their eggs are expensive. A big supermarket should do a 30 pack for £4.50

B&M and Home bargains sell high quality protein powder £18 per kg.

My typical day will be 4 eggs and toast, shake, 2x chicken rice veg at work, some sort of normie dinner then tuna before bed.

Asda do a 30 pack for £4.50 and tesco do or at least used to. They're on the small side but still a huge saving.

Farmfoods eggs were veey thin-shelled and went from 15 for 99p (!) to about £2.89 in the space of 3 years.

Go for bigger packs to save money

Rice, beans, milk/yogurt/kvarg, eggs, potatoes and other root vegetables. Liver for micros once a week.
Best bang for a buck is most likely whole chicken. You can debone it and use the meat for different dishes and the bones/skin for stock. Soups can be done with literally any leftover meat/bones and vegetables. I keep vegetables scraps and bones in the freezer so I always have some for soup. It's good if the budget is tight.

>sausage roll
Avoid shit like like that if you’re on a budget. You’re paying for convenience, the nutrition is shit and it won’t feed you long enough. Basically, avoid any pre-made or convenience food, cook fresh and suppress any impulse snack buys.

Most basic ingredients were already mentioned, but make sure to buy mostly seasonal produce as it tends to be cheaper. Keep a budget and plan your meals and grocery runs ahead. Personally, I do a weekly menu that also
allows me to reduce the number of times I have to cook. Invest into some good storage containers for multi-day cooking and left overs. Learn how to use spices. Finally, hunt for bargains and leverage sales, coupons and loyalty offers.

for lunch i've been having a tin of beans (40p from aldi) with two packs of smoked ham (99p each from aldi) mixed in. £2.30, 530 calories, 63g protein and about 20g fibre from the beans.

you can add in any cooked meat from the reducey section (or cook in batches at home if you like), the ham is just the cheapest per gram of protein i could find. don't be afraid of the tinned food section, you can definitely find some reasonably healthy stuff in there that's dead cheap because everyone assumes tinned-carcinogenic

Learn to cook basic meals, buy ingredients in bulk, either stuff that won't perish or can be frozen. Base your meals around a protein with copious cheap carbs - rice, pasta, potatoes. Chili, pasta bolognese, stew, roast chicken with potatoes, curry, stir fries. Just to get you started. All stuff that you can easily batch cook to get several meals from. Oats/porridge for breakfast, or toast with peanut butter (some of the cheapest calories you'll ever eat). Nobody in the UK is legitimately at risk of starvation, its just ignorance and/or trying to live a champagne lifestyle on a Cresta Lemonade budget.

Don't go to greggs every other day. If really want to, then at least see if you can find a greggs outlet near you and go there instead. Don't go out to eat just for the sake of going out to eat, unless you do it pretty infrequently or if there's some special occasion. If there is any meal you buy pre-made, look into how much you would save by making it yourself.

Buy food from a cheaper store (farmfoods/lidl/aldi/costco, whatever else there is). I like to cook food in bulk, I go to aldi and buy chicken breasts, rice, broccoli (and shit to season the chicken with if needed). I cant be bothered with cooking a meal after work, so its nice to be able to reheat that in a few minutes when I get home. I'm sure ill get tired of it at some point, but I'm fine with doing that right now.

If you really want to save money, look into buying an entire chicken and processing it yourself, rather than buying pre-cut (e.g. only breasts or thighs) meat. Obviously you can cook other things too, im just using this as an example because it's what I ate today.
