They're a gay movement but my DYEL friend swears by them and he also thinks deadlifts will split your spine even at low weights

Just stick to the basics and stop overcomplicating shit. Dumbbell bench press, shoulder press, rows, bulgarian split squats, lat raises, etc are all classics for a reason. They work and aren't a meme.

Why in the world would you do arnold presses??

If you're bench/incline pressing, you almost certainly don't need to be overhead pressing, but if you do either
Strict barbell OHP, because this is the ultimate MOG, and has some sport use (strongman, some niche powerlifting comps)
Or barbell behind the neck press, for lighter weight, this helps with shoulder health a lot if you don't go crazy.
Also lateral raises.

I don't see the point in twisting like that mid rep. I do my dumbbell pressing with neutral hammer grip the whole rep, both shoulder and chest presses. It just feels so much better and more stable to me than trying to balance them horizontally away from my body.
It also means I don't care how long the dumbbell is, which is nice for the dumbbell handles I plan on using in my home gym soon.

Just academically I think they're better for upper pec than other kinds of OHP.

Retard, I just said that because I don't do them. Do them one handed and feel your upper pec with other hand, then do dumbbell ohp to the side.

They are kind of dangerous because the twisting momentum can fuck your joints up.

He gave prank advice. I don't see him doing fake lifts. Aside from that you can feel the goddamn difference between dumbbell ohp and arnold press.
