Any short anons here do martial arts? I've heard wrestling is good for manlets, but I want to punch and kick pads. I'm thinking about signing up for muay thai. How is it sparring taller opponents? I think I'll have to visit different gyms and see which one has people closest to my height (5'4").

The only way to outstrike lankets as a manlet is to close the distance as they strike, if you try to chase them, they will simply jab and keep your face off while you helplessly run into their shots.
You need to pressure but not chase, the trick is to advance taking small steps starting with the rear foot so it's harder for the opponent to see you moving forward, if you take a step with the back foot first you won't get closer but then the step with the front foot will get you closer before they notice, if you only advance with your front foot first they will see it coming.
Then once you advance they will either move away or jab and teep, if the former don't chase them, slowly pressure to get inside again, if they strike you can explosively close the distance and land either overhands or body shots while moving your head to the side.

You will have to eat a few shots regardless.
Also if you can do muay thai and judo, with judo ot will be easy to take down even bigger opponents as opposed if you did wrestling which would make it very hard.

If you have the options for martial arts, I'd do BJJ over Muay Thai as a manlet. Learn a few takedowns and become really good on the ground. Muay Thai is great, but it really depends on the goals. If you are looking to compete, and in a shorter (kek) timeframe, maybe BJJ is more your thing. It is also one of those sports where being smaller can be an advantage at times. With Muay Thai you will get size mogged. I had a friend at 170lb who is 5'8 fight a lanklet who was 6'3. In striking the size difference matters more

Thais are short and beat lanklet Americans all day.

I only practiced muay thai for a year total.
I'm a southpaw hyper manlet, so sometimes had issues with accidentally kicking people in the balls.
What the other anon said about closing distance is true. I am so short that I focused on punching people in the liver to stun them when I got close.

It's fine. A 5'7" guy is currently the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC and he's known for his boxing skills. He has good ground game too though. You should be well-rounded but you can start anywhere.

You'll be fine, manletism doesn't really matter
You will find frustration when sparring taller guys who will be content to keep you at range with straights and teeps, but you will adjust, that's just part of fighting
The difference between his range and your range isn't feet, it's inches - your range is juuuust inside his, where you can connect with full extension, but his shots are stifled and he's uncomfortable. You have a few different options to get there:
>you slip your head and step in (remember, not a big step)
>you follow one of his shots in
>you step while striking
And mixing these into your game, plus a solid understanding of ring generalship (i.e. cutting off the ring so he can't just hotfoot away from you all the time) will let you dominate lanklets like me, trust me
And if you ever want to take a fight, you'll fight someone your weight, and the height difference will be minimal
