What's wrong with it? Those are all basic body movements anyone should be able to do, and doing them as a beginner will give you a good basis of strength to start out with.
No one said to do ONLY those exercises, or to do them forever, or to autistically chase them for a 1 rep max, or to overeat past the point where you build muscle but get fat instead.

Compounds are the most efficient way to build strength and muscle as a base, they are the bread and butter. You can always add accessories or use machines once you're past that beginner stage (or add very few, as long as they don't interfere with recovery). The routine will have very little impact on how you look after your first few months. If you look like shit after a basic routine built around the big lifts you would have also looked like shit following any other routine.

I switched from following all the advise on /fit/ and youtube, to doing basically what that reddit post says and working at half as much, and I've suddenly exploded in size and strength and I feel alot better.

When I was in high school the coaching staff had us lifting 4x6 and we would re test our 1rep max every 2 weeks. Did all the heavy compounds and then a circuit training to get a massive pump in auxillary lifts as well as some cardio gains. I dont remember what the split was I think it was upper, lower, rest upper, lower.

To this day that was the best program I ever did. Me and all my bros were strong as fuck. I just never could bench that heavy or squat that heavy without a spotter and I alwasy did more of a bodybuilder type program afterwords.

It's gonna be slow as fuck and nowhere near optimal whatsoever.

It's mainly the indiscriminate over-eating that is most egregious, which as already mentioned is roider broscience. People generally have no concern for food quality and in many ways lifters are even worse. It's pretty common for lifters to deride home cooked food in favour of consuming powders, bars and garbage like oats. The advice should be to improve food quality and eat wholefoods with excellent nutrient bioavailability.

95% of wrist injuries come from OHP and it doesn't grow your shoulders. 70% of lower back snapping comes from deadlifts and other 30% comes from squats both are shitty lifts for hypertrophy. Dont even get me started on the bench that literally kills people. Only compounds beginners should be doing are some type of row and chin up/pull ups.

Not even remotely true, micronutrients matter a whole lot. Once I started eating loads of raw yogurt, raw eggs, forest honey, steak tartare and raw liver my recovery became amazing and I could train everyday no problem and my lifts and muscle gains exploded with zero plateu, it feels like Iโ€™m on a light roid circle.

I usually gatekeep this but youโ€™re not gonna do it so I might as well share. This is the only way to make fast gains as a natty.

I only agree with barbell bench press, when I was a dumb beginner bench carried the living shit out of my upper body, that shit will grow chest, triceps, biceps, front delts, forearm and even back to some extent.
Lately I've swapped to dumbbells for bench but I like to do 3 months barbell 3 months dumbbell with some periodization.

Meat and eggs, yes, but also a shit-ton of grains and potatoes. I think organ meat is fantastic and food quality absolutely matters. It's obvious that the most anabolic state your body can be in is not just achieved by calories but also an abundance of micronutrients and a robust microbiome. But anyone who rags on oats is retarded and whatever nutrients are lost from cooking are easily compensated by nutrients that become more bioavailable.

its probably not worth dropping completely because its easy to progress (unless you are going to a gym with an aisle of dumbbells)
but probably yes you should include db bench press or some other pecs work
in theory long arms is actually a buff on db bench press because you can get a bigger stretch at the bottom which should result in bigger gains
i personally enjoy OHP more and made it my "main" lift and keep BP as auxiliary for OHP
