Got a mattress in a box like that. Hybrid mattress. best mattress I ever bought. Was a heavy fucker ngl, manageable in the box, but had to let it rise for 48 hours or so out of box....nearly impossible to lift that thing solo into the bedroom onto the raised foundation fpr the bed. Probably 180 lbs of awkward weight. Threw out my back doing it.

I carried a 3.8 CuFt mini-fridge in its box to the second floor. My back was sore for two or three days and I almost felt one or twice, but I still got it up. Probably would have been a lot easier to take it out of the box.

I'm 45 and American and was astounded that my $500 Seely mattress was folded up all weird. Because a mattress usually lasts longer than a car. Last time I bought one before this I was standing in a showroom picking it out and they sent guys in a truck to set it up.
They don't exactly advertise that the mattresses are shipped like this on the TV commercials, because it makes them look cheap like a camping inflatable or something. I'm sure the advent of this technology has saved them millions in delivery fees. I ordered the wrong size the first time and they had to send the team to pick up the opened mattress. But the bigger one they replaced it with they just left on the porch like it's my problem. I guess you have to pay extra if you want them to set it up. Or buy a really expensive unbendable mattress or waterbed.

i once bought a 30kg spring mattress, so it was a full size without any rolling/compression like on op's pic
i was a bed-ridden shut-in back then, but thought that 30kg would be easy based on my experience going to the gym in the past
what i didn't account for the fact that it was a thick 140x200cm fucking rectangle that i won't have a good grip on
the store was 2km away from my home, and i had no friends or parents to ask for help, so i lifted up the mattress and carried it small distances in intervals
then, as if to mock me, the demiurge sent rain my way, and since the mattress was secured in plastic foil, it became slippery and impossible to grab, not to mention that the dirt got on it when i put the mattress down to rest
so i opted for my last resort; i started flipping the mattress like they flip tires in strongmen competitions
i can guarantee i looked like a clown doing it, and people stared, but that was the price to pay for my hubris
i carried it that way within 200-300m of my flat, and eventually some guy (god bless his soul) took pity on me and helped me carry it for the last stretch
then as i struggled to get it up the stairs (because the mattress was caked in dirt and slippery as fuck by that point) another guy offered assistance (god bless his soul too)
i guess what i'm trying to say is that where there is a will, there is a way, no matter how weak or pathetic you are. even without help, i would autistically make attempt after attempt until i made it

Well to be fair i didn't carry it all the way non stop, there were multiple stretches of just dragging it and a few stops to reconsider my life. It was in a cardboard box, i was changing edges contacting the sidewalk as i went, by the time i reached home the bottom part of the box was pretty much cut out i was dangerously close to scratching the fridge itself.
