How do i keep myself motivated to go to the gym? I was going 5 to 6 times a week the past few months, but recently i've been kinda depressed and it's hard to go.
I still force myself to go from 4 to 3 times a week, 3 times is the minimum.
I like going to the gym, but there's so much shit going through my head when i'm trainning that i can't focus on the exercises. I'm still going because my belief is that going, even if i'm not pumped about it, is still better than being 100% sedentary.
I've also improved my quality of life immensily from last year to now, lost a shit ton of weight, stopped drinking, started eating properly, so i'm also not willing to sacrifice all the progress i made, but i want to go the gym stoked about what i'm doing, trying to lift more heavier weights etc.

I'm just waiting for things to fall into place, maybe my brain will fix itself or i'll catch a break and my life will get better, but right now i'm just forcing myself to go.

2x per week full body and 1 day cardio/swimming/hiking is all ya need. then throw in a passive deload every month or two and you got a period where you have all the time in the world released from the tedious lifting. It's simply the most efficient way to go about it.

I say "the president has absolute authority in this decision" in my mind and it gives my executive function the boost needed to start working on the task I'm procrastinating/putting off.
(the president is my prefrontal cortex in this case)

After posting this I realized it is more of a discipline hack than a motivation one.
As for motivation, I don't know, why do you lift, anon?

I don't have a job, gf or a bright future at 27 yet I go and lift very hard and consistently 6x a week and do cardio 5x a week for 3 years now

I don't know what it is but the gym just became something normal in my daily life, the will of making it also helps, I don't wanna turn into a depressed skinnyfat NEET again, that life will only bring hatred and pain.

I love Shenmue, its such a great game.

It deserves to be as revered as Ocarina of Time

3 to 4 times a week is fine if you actually lift and know how to program for full body or UL
