I know it sounds retarded, but bear with me

So, anon on the left is about 5'11, 160 pounds
anon on the right is 6'1, 192 pounds

Basically, skinnyfats always look lighter than they are, and lean guys look heavier

But if fat has a greater volume, shouldn't it be the opposite?

No. Bodybuilding is 99% just about optical illusions. Here is David Laid for example. That guy looks heavier because illusions. There's no frame of reference, put him in person next to that anon on the right and the lean guy would look like a toddler.
Skinnyfats lose on both ends. They are not big at all, they are the same 160lbs just without any definition. A 160lbs of soft blubber. No optical illusions with downward lighting etc. If yo get a pump, you just look the same, vs. a ripped guy who gets a pump, looks twice bigger than unpumped.

Yeah David is not big in absolute, just the perfect frame to make everything pop just right.

What you said have come to my mind too, high bodyfat hiding the muscles, the pump disparity which is very real

Still, I have a friend who is heavier and shorter than me, and we took measurements in real life, I have bigger arms, bigger chest, bigger legs

WITH MEASUREMENTS, so the illusion doesn't work there

It's all clavicular width, if you're not born with mogger wide frame no amount of working out will fix it.

Maybe roids and getting huge delts might hide your subhuman clavicles.

Probably the biggest red pill for me. I finally got my abs to show but I could only really see them pop with a camera and proper lighting. They looked meh in a mirror but everyone else was definitely miring.
Question since this is a good thread for this: I just went on vacation for about 2 weeks and couldn't work out since I was just walking.
Gained a few pounds of water bloat (158 -> 161 lbs) prior to this I had a six pack and looked great. But now that I haven't worked out, it's faded. There but clearly not as defined.
If I stop working out but maintained that weight will I keep the 6 pack or am I forever forced to keep working out to maintain my appearance? I was down to 12.5% body fat too.

because its a picture you cant accurately judge how big someone actually is
that 160 pounds guy would look tiny in real life but because of angles and lightning and no reference he looks big in a frauded pic

Guess I should clarify, if I take a week or two off should I expect everything to fade so drastically?

The dude on the left definitley isn't "Skinny-fat". He's decently lean and built outside of online fitness standards. Does look like he used to be fat though cause his skin looks kind of loose. But yea normies tend to overestimate how much they'll weigh if they actually got lean. If you're natty you end up being like 160lbs

I would define skinny fat at most women, 160 lbs but 25% bodyfat .

Ok guys I've realized I didn't pick the best examples, was too lazy to search for better ones.
Anyway, don't act like you don't know exactly what I'm talking about.
Finally, yes I get the illusion part.
STILL, the shorter friend I was talking about in second post, is heavier than me, and I do outshine him, in REAL LIFE, like standing next to each other.
All my measurements are bigger, even waist actually as I'm taller and it's not like he has a huge belly, just a layer of fat.
I guess I'll have to make him drop his pants to check if he has balls of steel or something.

ya, wide broad shoulders is the biggest genetic factor in how big you will be perceived by normies.
