the most iconic models are annoyingly expensive if you earn in a currency from a former eastern bloc country, so hereโ€™s my question - are budget knockoffs a viable option if you're the only person using one? are these bikes decent for building general conditioning if you do most of your cardio on them?

I just picked up a Force USA air bike at a yard sale, new in box for cheap compared to new price. I have no idea what a higher priced one is like, I feel like this one is okay.
Can't change the resistance for it, and it is kind of meh. Harder than a spin bike, but not like my Concept 2 rower, which gets insane the harder you pull on it. This bike kind of is harder for a second, but that is it. Seems sturdy enough, and good enough for general conditioning though. Especially nice in a giant set with other things.
Definitely only got it because it was at a yard sale. New price isn't really that much less than the Airassault.

Yes. They're loud as fuck tho in case you've never tried one. I wouldn't use it indoors.

Reselling a knockoff will be harder, with a higher likelihood of it getting rekt (value = $0). Scout the market for a while, buy a 2nd hand assault bike, take good care of it don't cheap out on maintainance, resell if you need cash or whatever and get your money back.

I bought the Rogue one. Expensive, but fucking rock solid stable. Quality is unbeatable. Zero complaints. A buddy of mine has a budget one and its a jenky, unusable, shaky, rickety piece of shit.

I suppose probably not so available in your cunt, but in the USA at least old Schwinn Aerodyne bikes are basically free. And it's the same shit.
