Why did God punish me to have this? No matter what I do, I always look fat due to protruding ribs

That's how I fixed it, now no one notices as long as I'm wearing a shirt.

How severe were you guys and what exercises helped the most? I have a pretty deep asymmetric case, have been lifting for a few months. Have started focusing on upper chest (incline bench, pull overs and decline push ups) based on online advice.

I have this and after life full of shit and depression I have decided to go for a surgery at 29.
I literally don't care if it kills me. It's either they fix it or I'm jumping in front of a train.

mine is not that severe but used to look far worse due to shitty posture and being a dyel.
pull overs and incline chest are great and will definitely help hide it. in general getting a stronger back and having better posture helps alot. Farmers carries with completely upright torso no hunching over, y raises and lu raises for mid traps, plenty of rows for rear delts/upper back, pulldowns/pullups for lats, etc
Again good posture is really key, holding your shoulders down and back and head up straight as often as possible

I have this and I'm very convinced it was due to malnutrition during childhood. There's really no other way, I went outside and did sports (until age 10), but I had a very limited diet, shitty parenting does fuck up the kids.

Best thing you can do anon is eat and do chest exercises. Incline, flies , dips and dumbbell chest press. Your ribs will still look weird , but , it will make it look less weird. I was 90 pounds in that photo at 18 pretty sure. I still don’t like my body but I don’t think anyone that works out does. Good luck anon

based me too, it's what it is, the rib flaring sucks but such is life, the only thing I ever had surgically fixed was my fucked up bite, also considering getting a poorly painted on tunnel tattoo on my chest for shits and giggles
Anonymous
8/8/2025, 4:12:28 PM No.76478499
ive been doing stretched to help rib flare, but the only thing that seems to help the chest gap (appearance only) is a wall stretch

i take half a step back from the wall, and then interlace my hands behind my head. i put my elbows into the wall, and then lean into the wall.

deeper stretch the higher you plant your elbows / further back you stand. legit feels like my chest is being pried open.

I have mild pectus. I had to wear a brace for two years of high school. But it's basically unnoticeable now.

focus the lean only on the upper back area/shoulders.
this stretch is really just opening the shoulders and relieving the poor posture that pectus causes.
dont lean super hard because it wont “fix” the pectus, since only surgery can do that

Mine was pretty much same as the picture, honestly if I remembered someone taking a picture when I had it, I would say thats me in the OP. But I had the surgery, mainly because all the females relatives were completely gobsmacked when I took my shirt of one summer to go swim, the commets that I look like a fucking mutant and freak poured in, ended up having the surgery with professional from Germany in about a year. My theory why the rib cartilage develops much faster than sternum is due to malnutrition, growing up i had the most insane headaches and would aspirins daily. My dad chalked it up too "I had really bad headaches during puberty aswel lol" forget the fact hat I would eat like one sandwich entire day. The result, the most excruciating pain for two months I can describe, and I have really high pain tolerance, bed ridden for a month, can barely breath, laugh, talk etc. results --not as bad as before, but ribs are still un even and flared, heart and lungs still have twice as many blood vessels as normal from all those years of pressure put on them, also spine is kinda uneven. Funnily enough best friend had carinatum instead, got it fixed within same year, if you are <20 get the brace, if above, consider doing something that allows you to never take off your shirt.
