It works for fat loss and some other things but it has one giant drawback which is that it’s difficult to sustain. You’ll get cravings, you’ll be in social situations, you’ll be out in the road, you’ll come off the diet, and when you do you can rebound hard. That’s why I think high carb is the smartest way to diet. Scaling up to high carb and then back down to normal carb intake is fucking easy in a world where all the food is carb heavy. All you have to do is make sure you eat enough protein. Then in the short term, you just get all your additional calories from simple, digestible carbohydrates and not fat. In the long term, you just scale back the carbohydrates and introduce more fat. It’s a really easy way to diet and eat in general and at least as effective as keto in the long term. Keto is like your body’s last resort. It’s to keep you alive, not make you healthy.

I lost 50lb on keto but I wouldn't reccomend it as it doesn't build sustainable eating habits long term resulting in a rebound. I switched over to a lower carb (~170g/day) high protein diet and continued to lose another 40. It works for some, but has a horrible rep for producing bacon wrapped butter eaters who rebound into the fatosphere.

> In reality, diets like Keto often rely on meat and dairy from industrial production systems, where contamination with drugs and chemicals is routine.
The promise of healing through meat and fat collapses when those foods carry residues of antibiotics, steroid hormones, synthetic preservatives, arsenicals, cocciodiostats, and pesticides.
Many of these toxins accumulate precisely in the fats and organs being celebrated as nutrient rich.

I don't have it anymore but I used to have a screencap of a rock climber/boulderer who had been on keto for a few years
He was utterly lean and shredded - clearly not a bodybuilder but he looked good
It probably works for that purpose, getting lean, maybe some other stuff like resetting your insulin sensitivity, I don't know
Then you have all the schizos
>keto is the ultimate human diet, boosts your IQ 20+ and lets you live to 120
>keto is literal poison lmao enjoy your blocked arteries and brain disease lol
It's probably a lot better for you than shit that normies do like drink a lot
I'd suggest reading about clinical experience with the diet (it's been around and used medically for decades) instead of watching fitness influencers or reading AI articles about it

You need easily available energy from carbs

Just eat balanced foods, track macros and don't overeat and finally cut out junk food as much as possible. Simple as.

Any fad diet trying to sell you some mystical bullshit about hacling your body ahould be avoided imo

If you've been dieting in the traditional normie way of avoiding meat and fat for a long time, it's a diet that promises as much of that as you want and still losing weight.

I was on it for 6 years, got lean in the first few months and maintained it, but the work to maintain it was not worthwhile, and unless you rule out PUFAs you are still not healthy.

Keto ultimately makes you incompatible with a lot of social activities, you lose days to "keto flu" if you fuck up by eating a little birthday cake under duress, and it makes your skin smell strongly of cat piss, which is embarrassing.

Just do CICO and avoid bad shit, whatever you believe that to be

I’m a white, autistic, 30yo hikikomori NEET, and I’ve been on a strict keto diet, eating just one meal a day, that’s it. The cherry on top is how this diet has made me less autistic. No anxiety, clear-headed, and calm as hell.
My daily meal is simple: 350 grams of ground beef (70/30), a teaspoon of salt, six boiled eggs, and two low-carb veggies—today, it’s celery and spinach. I chug about three liters of water daily. I’m not bothering with magnesium supplements, and honestly, I don’t feel weak or off at all, probably because the veggies are already packing some of that nutrient.
I’m not some certified nutritionist or a pretentious asshole with a degree in dietetics, so I’m not here to preach. But this works for me. Give it a shot for a month, or keep living like a spineless pussy: your call, I don’t give a damn.
God bless.

I believe it. Keto is recommended by psychiatrists for all kinds of disorders.

How long did it take you to get used to eating only once a day?
At which time of the day do you have that meal?

Keto for me is the default for keeping me full, never needing to snack and just feeling good.
For light exercise carbs are the best fuel for your muscle but I honestly don't get that much unless I'm going for a 3hr+ bike ride.
Overall I don't think it's good for bodybuilding but it's just good for living your life normally and it fixes so many issues like sugar cravings and other food habits.
Basically just a steak + vegs cooked in butter and some cheese and that's all your meal plans.

Keto is amazing for weight loss. It puts you in a position where you CANNOT eat shitty carbs, drink beers or whatever else crap you put in your body.
It sucks for lifting and running so it’s not something you should do for a longer period of time if you want to be stronger and faster.
But for weight loss, it really is amazing.

Also for people who struggle with mental illness such as ADHD, depression and anxiety, it can do wonders.

Real keto, super-majority of calories from fat, is unsustainable. Most are eating way too much protein and are not in ketosis. Don't even bother with 'keto' alternative foods, they're all over processed garbage. I got shredded autistically following keto. Trying to have a normal social life and thinking carbs are the devil led me to gain a lot of weight. There are no shortcuts with diet. 55% carb, 25% protein, 20% fat and eat a caloric deficit to lose weight. There's no alternative. Additionally, keto is not actually healthy. It's a survival mechanism. You won't thrive. If you need to be numbed up to kill it at your email job, then keto will probably help you perform.

I answer as someone who did 100% strict zero-carb carnivore for >1.5 years.

Keto/carnivore works well for fat people. They tend to lose their appetite once they are in ketosis and get leaner without feeling starved.

However, this effect disappears once you're in the 15-18% body fat range. Then it becomes hard to maintain a caloric deficit because of the lack of volume and fiber.

Pic was me in the middle of my carnivore diet. I looked big but not as lean as I would like.

The carnivore diet has other benefits, like zero teeth rot, you're never bloated, and you rarely fart. I think it also protects you from cancer.

The irony of keto is hilarious in that aside from the physical improvements, it helps mentally ill people quite a lot, but it simultaneously makes non-keto people absolutely seethe with anti-keto-derangement-syndrome. The "eat the bugs" crowd goes insane at the idea of someone not living off hyper processed junk food, LOL.
