Bowflex outsourced production of these to CHYNUH and then had to recall them all due to them falling off the rod and breaking people's faces. Lots of chinkshit brands, most people use vouch for the powerblock.

I would probably struggle to get the 5 to 90 lb singleton dumbbell into the elevator and down the hall.

seems like its still going
a non-adjustable set seems best for most needs though
i cant imagine needing adjustables unless you live in a 1bed bug pod in the inner city

how can you not be able to deadlift and carry 40-50kgs?
its stuff any untrained people can do, even women

faggot intentionally obtuse nigger retard
you deadlift with both hands and carry them one by one until they're in their place
my mom is in her 70s and she carries water packs in each hand with no problems
those are 6 bottles of 2L of water, meaning 16kgs*2
she can carry 32kgs no problem when i'm not there to do it for her
i don't care if you're untrained, if you're older than 20 you must be able to deadlift and carry 50kgs by using both hands

>those are 6 bottles of 2L of water, meaning 16kgs
1L of water is 1kg. 6*2=12. 12kgs.
>inb4 the thin plastic container weighs 4kg

>>76477656
you're right
i don't know why i said 16
still, 12 kgs per hand, 24 total at 70 for a untrained female
a post puberty untrained male needs to be able to deadlift and carry 40kgs with both hands
so carrying the dumbbells 1 by 1 is both possible and easy
Anonymous No.76477707 [Report]
Never tried them but you could do a lot with
-a gallon jug of water
-a 25lb dumbbell
-a 45lb dumbbell

Delivery guy couldn't carry 1 of these across the road to my house - I casually carried both of them.
We both laughed.

I have an off brand 40kg version in my home gym, so far very happy with it. I have not enough space to place a dumbbell rack not will to spend so much money. I had the clamp on kind of adjustable weights, but the clamps gave up sometime so I dropped using them for a while in favor of barbell only. Now that I have those I use them frequently.

TLDR: they're worth it.

I went to the gym with a mate who'd never lifted before in their life. First thing we do is set up the bench and this guy who has literally never lifted before casually benched 2pl8s. I've not been back to the gym since.

you tilt it back so you can put hands below
then you deadlift it
then you lean back so its weight is sitting on your stomach
this way you don't have to "grip it" all the way

he just tricked you into doing it.
he does this all day every day of his life.
if he put them in the truck, he could've also carried them outside.

A person who lift all day, is going to be stronger then a person who lift 2h every days.

I've been thinking about getting these screw on dumbbell things, some sets go up to 60kg and they are by far the cheapest option + second hand screw plates are everywhere on facebook marketplace.
Any reason why I shouldn't? Are these powerblock things that much better?

Muscle size and bodyweight are braindead shortcuts to extra strength, sure but they aren't required for it. 70kg dude can be stronger than 120kg weightlifter, especially if we consider endurance and not 1 rep max.

I'm a delivery driver, it's a pretty chill job. Would recommend. If I'd have to guess about 90% of the packages I deliver weigh less than 10kg. They rarely exceed 25kg. I have a little trolley in the van for more awkward heavy packages. I listen to music and podcasts all day and barely interact with coworkers. Interactions with customers are also very short and superficial, you give someone a package and you're like ''here you go, have a nice day'' and that's it. Getting to know your route takes like couple of weeks but after that you can do the whole job on autopilot.

Naa - he had arms like toothpicks.
He bottled it put it back in the van.

Those have always been trash. Any good pair that goes over 50lbs will be $700+. Even at that price many are lacking durability. You could save a lot of money and use dumbbell handles with iron 5/10lb plates, 1" or 2", but those have issues with weight limitations and size. If the collars fail then plates can fall onto your face.

imagine mechanism malfunctioning because chinese dude forgot to adjust a screw at factory and 10kg worth of metal landing on your toes

So that means it's fine if I'm the one adjusting the screw.

>have adjustable dumbbells
>can hit pretty much every muscle group effectively except for my lats

I do dumbbell rows, but the problem is that I'm already at 45lbs in each hand and my dumbbells max out at 50lbs. Is there any way I can build decent lats with just two 50lbs dumbbells?

Based. Durability and longevity trump all. If money is no object, get the overengineered rep x peppins. If you care about value but still want something good, get ironmasters. If you want as cheap as possible, get handles and make them work as best you can. None of that flimsy nuobell or warranty judaism to worry about.

I don't believe you're doing 50lb lateral raises.
Anonymous No.76478914 [Report]
I primarily work out with a pair of those. I recently bought some 75 pounders for rows and incline DB press. I am up to 10 reps with them. Soon I will buy a pair of 85 pounders. I realize its not the most efficient use of money because the big dumbbells are stupid over priced. But its so phytologically satisfying to have gotten stronger to the point that I must go out and buy a heavier weight. Its like a reward for my gains.

These are only as good as the screws. If it stays tight and don't loosen too much, they're decent. If not, avoid. See if you can test them out before buying. Plates for them are usually cheap, especially since there's always gonna be people selling them secondhand. One big downside of loadable dumbbells is that loading them takes more time than the adjustable dumbbells. It can be tedious if you're doing it a lot but they're so much cheaper than adjustables that it's up to you to do the cost:benefit analysis on whether the convenience is worth it for you

A delivery guy delivered my 20kg, and I distinctly remember him being incredibly pissed off and he was carrying the bell by the handle since it had ripped through the box.

Fucking faggot, not my problem you chose a shitty ass job
