Wear a lifting belt when you back squat. It’ll help make sure your form is good so you don’t get that lower back pain

Why not just use lifting shoes and squat like tom platz, more upright means less lower back, right?

Platz can only squat like that because he has midget femurs

op here. that is how ive always squatted, high bar upright with wl shoes. i think its just the result of more than a decade of squatting

I've been frontsquatting for a decade but this is only because of shoulder mobility issues

33yo

haven’t regularly back squatted in about 6 years after issues with back pain when attempting 365-405lb, got tired of it and swapped for front squat permanently. Was a good decision. Just doing something like 3-5x5 at 225lb front squats then move to accessories that are more fun is better, would recommend

Why do you have lower back pain at 30? Did you do something retarded? Squatting doesn't give you back pain, especially if you do it high bar, which I assume you do if you also do front squats.
Anonymous No.76520929 [Report]
I’ve done zercher and hack squats for the past five years and I have never looked back. Conventional barbell squatting was a meme

nah just years of squatting i think. the idea that lifting weights isnt creating stress on your spine just because your form is good isnt correct
Anonymous No.76520941 [Report]
>>76519659 (OP)
Yeah. That or zercher. They feel better for back development and theyre easier on my knees. Back squat will inevitably start fucking with my right knee but for some reason all other leg stuff is fine

I did this once but it was just cope because I was shit at back squatting. I still front squat, but I back squat more often.

>i got a good 10+ years of back squatting but now i have lower back pain the next day
I'd argue you didn't get good at back squat if you're feeling pain.
You were younger and didn't lift as much weight so you never noticed anything.
Now that your older and lift more you need to actually use proper form.

There's a reason why people say the deadlift and squat are some of the most technical compound lifts.
It's not just your stance and doing the correct motion, but how it feels internally.
Which is hard to figure out because you have to figure it out yourself.

The most common issue I think most people have, while they have the correct stance and do the correct motion, they aren't creating enough tension internally to other parts of the body.
The back squat is a leg move but you need proper tension through the entire body to do them correctly.
Sticking your chest out, flaring your lats, proper core bracing etc. etc.
It should feel like a full body exercise.

i just fundamentally disagree. my form is objectively good. putting 100s of kilos on your back for a decade is going to cause wear and tear

I can squat and even go ATG without any issue at 37 but I cannot squat more than 70kg for reps without feeling like absolute shit.
I can do the same weight at the leg press with one leg for many sets and reps so it's my back that just cannot do it.
It's okay though, at a certain point one must accept his limitations and I'll be happy if one day I'll be able to squat more than 70kg without feeling like breaking in half.

My wrist mobility is fucking garbage so I do zercher instead
Yes I use the pussy pad for zerchers otherwise I fail from the skin pain rather than the weight

>lower back pain
You obviously don't know how to squat properly. Two problems causing this
>improper joint alignment, back not straight
To fix this, work on your posture and work on your breathing during the squat. If necessary do the work to get a PT that actually knows how to fix your shitty joint alignment.
>buttwink (also causes knee problems if the hip/knee joint alignment is off)
You're probably going too deep and do not have the internal rotation ability to actually keep tension on the quads. If you want to train your quads you only need about 90-100 degrees of flexion about the knee. This isn't even parallel for a lot of people. You go deeper than that, unless you have the structure for it, you're going buttwink, taking tension off the quads and put it elsewhere like your lower back. No more than parallel and use a wedge or lifting shoes if you need to tilt your ankles forward.

Deep squats are a meme and large ROM is a meme.
