it's the vegan problem all over again. OG vegans from the 80s and before were one of the healthiest demographics because they had to carefully plan for deficiencies and make sure their ingredients were whole foods. Old school bodybuilders were the same way (minus roids).

But now big corps caught on and now a ton of vegan food is just synthetic, mass-produced goyslop. Vegans nowadays just eat oreos and other dogshit which results in them being chronically malnourished as a whole. The same thing is gonna happen to contemporary bodybuilders who try to ditch real food with high proteins and instead just down junk food with a few scoops of cadmium-laced whey powder.

you want complete protein with all essential amino acids to support muscle protein synthesis. If you go to the protein shake isle, you'll notice there's meal replacement shakes with big protein numbers on them but they're not "complete protein" and often come from low quality (read low bio-availability) sources. Ex. Fairlife Corepower Series has complete protein with a complete amino acid profile and is a high bioavailable source. look for the ingredient the protein is "whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate" Plant protein does not contain a complete amino acid profile in any plant protein single ingredient so the actual good brands will combine it with other plant protein sources to create it: ex. blueprint longevity and metabolic protein uses a combination of pea protein, hemp, and pumpkin seed protein. If you see a protein shake or powder that's plant based but only has one of these plant protein ingredients then it is not a complete protein. Isopure whey protein isolate is my favorite non-vegan because its a complete amino acid profile, it's high bio-avaialbility source, and cuts out the extras to give 25g of good protein at only 100 calories, I use it to hit my protein goal while cutting.

note: muscle protein synthesis is full amino profile + leucine to trigger it. all whey has leucine. vegan sources, even longevity protein from blueprint, has low leucine content and whey is more reliable, the vegan route has more polyphenols and antioxidants that whey-based does not.

Facts about protein:
1. Protein quality matters only if you aren’t getting enough protein. If you’re getting enough, your body doesn’t gaf.
2. You only need about a gram and a half per kilogram bodyweight to maximize your benefit from protein if you aren’t cutting.

(i switched over to Smoothie King's because it tastes 1000x better than any other stupid protein power i've used, especially Precision, and if im drinking this crap every day or whenever i work out, it needs to be bearable and taste good, remove the barriers to entry as much as possible and make it something to look forward to)

The average guy these days is 225lbs @ 40% bodyfat and they see roidtrannies say they NEED 1g protein/lb so they're shoveling in 225g protein per day when in reality 0.6g/lb at a 20% fat normalized bodyweight will max out 90% of people on gainz.
