Would it be weird/obnoxious if I start reading books at the gym while I'm on the treadmill or bikes or something like that? I want to make more productive use of my time but I'm worried people will just find me performative and take pictures of me and make fun of me.

Nah every time I see someone reading at the gym on the treadmill/stairmaster/whatever I always want to ask them what book they’re reading because I also like to read.
Can’t wait until I’m off this bulk and I can actually just walk for miles and read, that sounds comfy.

Fuck you’re reminding me of this one time I was at the gym in the middle of a breddy serious workout (early on in my journey, it was kind of a big deal for me to be going that hard) and some fucking asshole walked up to me, at three in the fucking morning, there’s like three people in the gym and we’re two of them, and then just starts quoiting scripture and trying to convert me.
I told him thanks but no thanks, but in retrospect I was way too nice about it.
People go to the gym at that hour because they loathe human interaction when in that building.

Reading is based, and /fitlit/ is the future. And the recent mocking of people who are reading as being performative is just an artificial campaign to keep people in a screen.

Ideally, the gym should be very social. It used to be. But the next best thing is to read. It literally exercises the mind in ways no other information/entertainment format can.

A decent book on this is The Shallows by Nicholas Carr.

I used to bring my kindle to read while doing the cardio bike until I started skipping my cardio kek. I just think it would be kind of annoying and impractical to read between sets, especially a paper book which you probably end up getting all sweaty and shit. That’s just my opinion though do whatever the fuck you want, if anyone has a problem with you reading between sets that’s their problem not yours.
