started doing ring dips recently and managed a 3x8 for the first time yesterday, feels good man. I've always done full body workouts though and ring dips impact my ability to do pull ups and vice versa (whichever i do 2nd i manage less reps on) so thinking about trying a split instead. but ive always thought ppl is so bitch made when you're only training each muscle group twice a week as opposed to 3.5x a week doing full body. any anons felt this dilemma?

How do dips impact your pull ups? They're completely different muscle groups. You probably just have shit cardio

i literally went for a >1 hour run later in the day after doing the dips and pull ups, and i live near very steep hills. my cardio is more than good enough to do a couple dips and pull ups. ring dips employ many more muscles than normal dips.

Do pull ups first, then dips. Bodyweight alone it would be best to do:
> Pull ups, Push ups, Squats, Dips, Rest, Repeat.
For 2 minutes each, if you can't perform a pull up just do deadhangs instead and with push ups, do elbow planks the moment you can't do another rep, 3 rounds of this set will leave you fucking wasted. 24 minutes total workout, maximum effort.

Why would it make sense to do pushups before dips ever

is there any logic or reasoning to this at all? you have just vomitted a random routine at me. if you want me to take any of this seriously justify your reasoning. why should i always do pull ups before dips? if i said my pull ups impact my dips then surely i would want to alternate which i do first so that i dont develop an imbalance.

Pull ups require much more effort and work more than your dips do so you want to start with it when you are fresh.

Dips actually use lats in the beginning of the movement (from down position).

I train dips and pullups together but I make long rest between them, like 5 minutes.

>I'm about to BLAST weighted dips and there's NOTHING you can do to stop me
cool, when u get tired of no pecs and ruined joints try out this thing:
>>76712863
knuckles no, but paraletts or pair of dumbbells in "neutral grip" and u press in front of you down and u can feel your shoulders wanting to go up, protract em and press down on your hands
> what is it good for ?
pecs :D triceps :D serratus :D anterior :D
i like to flex pecs and hold myself up like that with my feet barely taking any weight, elbows slightly bent
>but what is it good for?
it's the same motion u will do trying to give heart massage but with your shoulders moving, not entire torso like hammer-like like they teach u proper techinique cause otherwise u will tire out in:
>pecs :D triceps :D serratus :D anterior :D
u are depressing shoulders in front of your chest or simply just keep em depressed and don't let them go up
>innit sorta kinda like DIP hooman? don't tell me u fixed the dip now?
yes i ddid bot, shoulders protracted forward allow pecs to work unlike in dip, cause with dip shoulders are retracted and pecs can't work cause they snag on bones of ribcage, it's gonna be lats mostly and only the free parts of pecs - the armpit part, sternal part will get fucked trying to contract but obstructed by ribcage

u don't need to bench for pecs, actually bench is what will rob you of your pecs
>>76727739
>is there any logic or reasoning to this at all?
yes - moar injurious ineffective nonses is better than siingle one or none at all :D

You mean I should eat more or that I should cut. Ngl I'm sort of permabulking, as I care mostly about strength but have autistic obsession with calisthenics.
Anonymous No.76730883 [Report] >>76730887
>>76730877
If you're permabulk it'd be odd if you had no nothing to show under the layers of fat. I bet that if you were lean you'd display some good muscle mass.

Sure, but they're just small. That's the problem
Anonymous No.76730902 [Report]
>>76730887
if youre doing 7 reps of dips per set with 50kg added then theyre objectively not that small because most people arent adding that much weight to their dips. what are you even asking about? you look like an untrained fatass because youre overweight, and you said yourself you are perma bulking. so either carry on perma bulking and adding on weight to your dips, or cut if you want to look better. its not fucking rocket science.
Anonymous No.76730906 [Report] >>76730909 >>76731006
Somebody explain the weight mechanics of doing dips. A few years ago I could do weighted dips with +20-25kg when I weighed about 78kg for 6-8 reps. Now I can do 5-10kg when I weigh 86kg for 10-12 reps. Why is extra bodyweight such a big factor in dip strength when the total weight is actually less?
Anonymous No.76730909 [Report]
>>76730906
genuinely only explanation is that you got weaker for one reason or another or just got worse at dips. 10kg of extra body weight should be less of an issue than 10kg of added weight.

Dips are like very decline bench, not horizontal bench. You are also using your lats a lot in dips, but not in horizontal bench. Also dips do not lift 100% body weight, more like 95%.

When doing dips, you don't lift your forearms = 95% bodyweight.
When doing bench press = you also lift forearms = 105% bodyweight.
