Is computer science still a good degree in 2025? I visit the subreddit r/cscareerquestions, and I get mixed answers on whether it's still a good major or not, and I can't tell what answers are based on reality.

If I simply graduate in a few years (let's say 2027) with no projects or internship, am I honestly going to be fucked and never find a CS related job? And if so would electrical engineering be a good alternative to CS?

CS was never a real degree. Do a physics/maths degree and code in your spare time & on personal projects.

The answer to this question has never changed since the time of boomers.
Do what you enjoy anon.
If you do what you enjoy you will be good at it and will make money with it.
If you love computers go with CS.

If you don't have a particular interest and just want "STEM" or something, quite understandable at your age then this anon is right.

Math is a very general degree that has numerous applications afterwards.
You can go into CS, finance, whatever with a Math degree.
And find niche well-paying jobs where the plebs get filtered by the Math requirements.

But pure Math is useless. You will need Math + something else, either coding in your spare time or an MsC in something.

So more effort will be required but you will make more money and possibly A LOT more money than a pure codemonkey.

I've been programming since I was 14 and am in the final year of my CS studies. I absolutely can't get a job in the market, so I fix computer systems for local businesses to earn some pocket money.

It's really cozy job though because there is no DevOps or AI or some weird shit. Just big ass Windows 8 computers and shitty infra.

He is right.
I have a CS degree and he is 100% right.
If I did it all over I would pick Math.
Coding is a joke, once it clicks it clicks, and you can do anything.
Mastering a language or framework is useless knowledge that can be acquired on the job and will be obsolete in a few years.

Math knowledge is eternal.

Most of the high paying CS jobs require heavy math, from AI to cryptography to quant to optimization to advanced graphics...
All the "hard" CS stuff is Math.

well if you really must pick a degree it certainly is better than gender studies or whatever
anon the truth is that nobody knows for sure, if you are picking it just because of money then you will probably waste your time because passionate people will get ahead of you if you despise what you are doing
consider this: everyone is doomposting about ai and shit, worst case scenario you get a good education in CS which will always be useful no matter where you end up working at (like imagine not even having the curiosity to look up stuff about the device that you use pretty much every day), best case scenario: you get a CS education and a job or at least better job prospects if you were to choose to not pursue a degree at all
>I visit the subreddit r/cscareerquestions
anon that shit is like /g/ except everyone is whining about ai, surely a redditor posting stuff to farm karma is not going to make shit up
stop reading this bullshit and believing random strangers online, if you like this shit go for it

it is more fun this way
everyone loves a man who has a working linotype machine

You're better off with a Statistics degree than a Math one
