Is it true Youtube can IP-ban you for using third party clients like this ?

Works pretty well, I've been using it for a while. But it's always going to be a less smooth experience than regular YT, because Google hates people using alternative frontends and periodically messes with things just to screw them over for a while and make them adapt.

Yes, they did to me a couple of times, but it's temporary for 5 minutes.

Not only. yt-dlp exists. Pipepipe exists on android. But yeah, its decent on desktop.

my adblocker mostly still blocks ads and i have history turned off, so that some random dumbass video i watch doesn't spoil recommended videos. i will use youtube until the ad blocker stops working for good.

very good, been using it almost since its inception.
but it still lacks a tab system to be perfect.
Anonymous No.106281709 [Report] >>106283344
I use this for PC and NewPipe for phone. I cannot remember the last time I saw an ad. The day these two programmes die, Youtube watching dies. Until then.....ooo boy, I think I gotta start downloading all those videos I really like...these tiems seem really uncertain, honestly.

wayland actually doesn't support important features like window embedding, quickmedia depends on mpv as a video player, so that wouldn't work on gayland.
you can use xwayland, but consider using a real display server that doesn't tell you something along the lines of "you don't need this" or "your usecase is wrong" if you request features.
>>106282259
even doe there is sponsorblock support, its literally 1 flag in your config file

It needs to recommend similar videos on the side, feels too dead
Anonymous No.106282349 [Report] >>106282449 >>106285864
>>106282281
on a side note, quickmedia is literally the only usable matrix client i know of, no other client is entirely keyboard controlled, doesn't have random lag problems or tons of bugs, supports PGP encryption, or has all the neat niche features such as auto greentext, custom emojis, saucenao reverse image search, etc...
>>106282324
qm does this either by having a local list of channels you 'subscribe' to in a text file, leeching 'trending' videos from an invidious instance, or just autoplay
Anonymous No.106282449 [Report] >>106282509
>>106282349
If im listening to a song, I want freetube to recommend me similar songs, I can manually add channels sure, but thats cumbersome compared to a feed generated based on your current video. And trending is depressing slop, I'd remove that feature.
Anonymous No.106282506 [Report]
>>106282324
It does again after the most recent update
Anonymous No.106282509 [Report]
>>106282449
trending actually gives you decent videos depending on what invidious instance you use, i get a bunch of lunix videos or lunduke ranting into a camera about the trannies
autoplay is what you probably want

same, same
it's so nice watching a full longplay or go through a VGM playlist without being shilled crap from whatever is local or some dumb movie that only normies care about.

why things gotta be so less niche now. how do we reverse the iphone/facebook generation?
Anonymous No.106283516 [Report]
It fucking sucks but I'm not using real YouTube and the libadwaita one doesn't keep your place in videos so I use it every day

Update the software dumbass. Nightly build has already fixed it
Anonymous No.106283870 [Report]
I have Grayjay installed, since Freetube would break way too often. It is ok, though I prefer using an RSS Feed for my subscriptions, and then downloading videos with yt-dlp.

YouTube IP bans you after watching 2-3 videos if you are not logged in. If it detects any sort of ad block it can attempt to block immediately
Anonymous No.106286257 [Report]
firefox and ubo doesn't have this problem, there was that brief period where they were pulling the "videos will be disabled if you keep using adblock" but I haven't seen that in months

my youtube client is written in plain c (compiles in less than 5 seconds) and also works on windows and wayland and doesn't require hardware acceleration
