This
I'm not at all surprised by how Cook, having no idea about it interest in making good products, just turned Apple into a money printing factory instead.

The ARM Macs move was pretty risky and it made an essentially unmatched laptop product.

Current Macbooks and iPhones are miles better than before. Iphones have arguably reached perfection. UI has deteriorated in the past 5 years but current Apple hardware is state of the art at costumer prices, specially the screens. Standard Macbook screens still mog anything money can buy. Iphones still have the best cameras in the market by a mile (inb4 some chink filter machine making the grass radioactive)

They are unmatched for the segment they are popular in. Macbooks used to be overpriced, underclocked, overheating shit, but now there's no Windows laptop that competes with the Macbook Air in thermal and energy efficiency, while hitting all the spots the mainstream consumer wants and being available in any significant volume. Most people don't need something more powerful.

Will he know when to exit the company? His big "innovation" was in building a supply chain on the other side of the planet to increase margins and market share. As far as investors are concerned, he's the best CEO ever and Steve Jobs wasn't worthy of licking Timmy's balls. I sometimes wonder if Steve knew that Cook would turn Apple into a soulless husk, so he picked Cook to ensure Steve's legacy as a visionary would be kept intact.
At some point Apple will run out of ways to cut costs and the brand has already lost most of its image as an elite brand, now being the brand of conformity. If Cook leaves near the peak, his legacy will be secured and whoever comes after him will get the blame for the company's eventual decline.

Ive shit up the MacBook line with his retarded "thin at all cost" philosophy that led to the butterfly keyboard debacle. Recent Macbooks are more like a return towards normalcy.

I don't even like Macs, but I got an M1 Macbook Air a few years ago because I just wanted something light, thin and with good battery life, and that was the best value. I always wanted to replace it with a Windows laptop, as I don't like the OS, but there's nothing similar at an acceptable price point.

This is a sign of an oppressive corporate culture where workers are afraid to speak out against very bad ideas. Once a company reaches this stage, it starts going downhill.

>model runs every time a script runs again
>actually computationally intensive shit
>Enter my MacBook Pro
>M4 max with an MLX model is equivalent to a 4080 with 100gigs of VRAM
>it lasts most of, if not all, of the work day without charging while I do this
Also
>Meet my wife
>She doesn’t charge her laptop
>She forgets to charge everything, really
>Her MacBook sits around constantly uncharged
>The thing lasts for days
>It plays Yoga videos, lo-fi Chinese-themed hip-hop, and the Sims sometimes
>It literally never dies doing this
Find a Windows laptop that matches either scenario. There isn’t one. Apple is unmatched in this space.

Apple not investing into AI is the only thing stopping them from being as shit as Microsoft. They realised it was all bullshit hype, and the limited amount they put in didn’t work all that well even for extremely basic shit like headlines. The investors got annoyed because they don’t care if the product is good, only that number go up, and if Apple announced their big new AI model number would go up even though it’d just be throwing money into a pit. Their actual AI usecases (copying text from images, automatic translation in camera, recognising faces in photo library) are all actually useful, but because they’re not promising that a shit chatbot is going to become “AI super intelligence”, investors don’t care
