/csg/ - Chink Shit General
Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

>is there any decent budget beamer/projector for casual movie nights in the bedroom?
Decent is a really broad spectrum.
The cheapskate option is the Magcubic Projector HY300, anything cheaper than that and you may as well just take random tech trash from the landfill and pretend it's a projector.
Some anons who have these have been complaining about them not being that great, other anons (me included) like their a lot and are happy with them. Depends on your standards and expectations I suppose.
Given that you can get them for 30€, I find people complaining that the image quality isn't insane a bit delusional, but you should be made aware of it.
If you want a actually decent beamer for watching regularly as a home cinema setup, you'll want something more expensive though, maybe other anons can help with that.

See >>105737799 for a review I posted of it when I got it, includes a photo of it projecting blade runner onto my ceiling.

Gonna grab this set as my first ever soldering iron.
Mostly because reviews are good, and pinecil here is severely overhyped, to the point when it's base version (soldering iron + 1 tip) costs 5 bux more than this whole set.

Meanwhile picrel is what I paid for mine, minus the charger I doubt that it's that much more of a bargain than the Pinecil. I could've added the tip set and it would still be less than this set. Though you gotta keep in mind to buy directly from https://pine64.com since a) Ali doesn't sell genuine Pinecils anywhere anyways and b) any local reseller will have much higher prices than if you were buying from Pine64 directly.

At some point I'm prob gonna order both short tip sets and a PinePower from them. But not now. Once I'll have the need to step up my soldering game proper.

Get some headphones and a desk mic.
If you want to go chink, fifine makes decent mics and baseus has some decent headphones.
If you're really autistic they even have some 2.4ghz dongle headphones (better latency than bluetooth), otherwise just get yourself a tplink bluetooth adapter if your mobo doesn't support it or go with cabled headphones if you care about audio quality.

Yeah, I have that exact one, it's decent, but I remove the built-in mic and use a desk mic instead.
It's not that the mic is bad or anything, I just didn't like how you can't fold it up like you can with other headsets (especially annoying when you're trying to eat or drink something).
They're really comfortable but the earpads started slipping off after a year or so of use (I just dabbed a bit of superglue on it and that fixed it).
Another thing that's annoying is how the volume controls work, I'll try to explain it the best I can: two different devices show up on your PC, "usb voice" and "usb game", the volume wheel all the way up sets "usb voice" to 100% and "usb game" to 0% volume, turn it all the way down and it inverst it, keep it in the middle and it sets both to 50% volume.
It's really dumb and not useful at all, I just disabled one of them on the control panel and just set everything to the other.
Oh, and you can just turn off the RGB and it remembers that.

Did yours come with 6 tips as well?
Official pinecil store doesn't even deliver here, so my options are either aliexpress, or our "local" version of aliexpress that also lets you order stuff from China.
And this local version has much better prices than aliexpress, as well as free shipping.
So I will be getting this set for 70 bux everything included, and the cheapest pinecil from a non-shady store I managed to find on the same online marketplace is 76.

A Pinecil is $26, a silicone cable is $4, and a short tip set is another $26. Closes in at $56, so even with shipping it's less than that.
>Official pinecil store doesn't even deliver here
So that's why you're so mad at the Pinecil being "overhyped"? Because you can't get it at the community prices? You living in a 3rd world shithole doesn't mean the Pinecil is overhyped or overpriced.

>>106389647
It's strongly advised to have one. Mine is a Uni-T UT33B+, but you might want a different variant from the UT33+ series since the battery tester of the B variant is useless. It's just a DC measurement mode that'll show "good" or "bad" depending on the voltage range, something you could do yourself and instead get a UT33A+ with auto range, UT33C+ with a thermometer or UT33D+ with contactless measurement. Uni-T is a generally recommended Chinese brand of measurement tools.

First of all, don't listen to >>106391313 merino wool absolutely gets stinky, just slower than other fabrics.
Chinese fabrics are often thin or small cuts, so check the specs to see if the size is correct for you. If it is my guess is it'll be synthetic fleece, which will be decently long lasting and very soft, but not very breathable and start to smell if you sweat much in it.
Comparable to any cheap robe you can get locally likely, except maybe a bit cheaper or better in thickness.

Depends on what you want it for. If it's drilling into wood, thin metal, light stone or for furniture, just get a cheap generic one from amazon (that happens to be chinkshit too). I got one and it's surprisingly capable.
If you need it to be able to drill into walls (euro walls, not american walls), then get a proper one.
Also try to make sure the chink clone you get is compatible with one of the major battery brands (mikita is a classic), for cross compatibility and easier batterpack replacements.

picrel is the one I got on amazon as a replacement for my cheap-ish one I had before where the charger broke. The battery pack had only fairly limited capacity left and wasn't sold anymore so I got a new one.
34€ for that one with 2 battery packs, the drill shell is cheap plastic, but it has enough power and the battery capacity seems correct, so quite a good deal imo.
Only downside is it has soft plastic around the handle, which is always risky for longevity.
Batteries are makita compatible, so easy to get replacements too.
If you're working with it often or with tough materials I'd get something better, but for the stuff you need a drill in daily household stuff usually, it's more than sufficient and the spare pack means you can basically use it uninterrupted indefinitely, as you can charge one battery while using the other.

Keep in mind if it's cordless that you may need to factor in a new battery pack.
But brands like makita or tyobi and shit often appear for very cheap on local craigslist alternatives and they offer better build quality usually, not like drills have changed that much in the last 10 years (other than battery design I suppose)

Just get a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, it's cheap and comes in handy in various cleaning jobs. Every time you want to clean something and water isn't doing it, alcohol works.

That being said for shipping label and those fuckass labels that leave glue residue that's hard to clean, vegetable oil works wonders, unintuitively.

It's the Zippos that are a meme. No gaskets anywhere, so it all evaporates. Meanwhile the Zorro has a gasket for the lid, and in case of alternative inserts like the titanium one, a gasket lid on the bottom of the insert. Other lighter fuels that also use a gasket, like those emergency storm ones, also stay good for long due to actually getting sealed.

It's kinda like my experience with Swiss Army Knives. I got burnt on the cheap shit that was hard to open until I got my first genuine Victorinox. Then I understood why you should pay a premium for it.

Like hold a lighter under the label so it heats up and it should turn black.

See picrel, I don't have any aliexpress packaging round, but the label should be thermal printed which means that as long as you get it to the heat that it was printed at, it'll blacken. I used a label from my label printer that also uses thermal print for the picture to illustrate. Obviously if I had moved the flame a little around it'd be all black.
And no this isn't soot nor do I want you to set your package on fire (be careful with a flame that you don't melt the plastic or set it on fire), it's just the pigment activating.

This one is definitely a bootleg and I was aware of it before ordering, but the review pictures looked so good that I had to check for myself.
The sculpt itself is stellar, the hair particularly (a part they usually skimp out on) looks very decent. Only defect I could find are the fingers, their moulding looks a bit fused together and they could do with a bit of filing.
The painting is also really good, all the clothing details look sharp and I couldn't find any sploshes. I did circle the holes in her thighhigh where the skin isn't coloured right, it looks paler than it should be but it doesn't look as bad as it does on camera.
The fishnet pattern also doesn't line up exactly.
It comes with the mask and two other faces and they're all painted well, I just happen to like the masked look the best.
Overall it's definitely way better than the $30 bucks I paid for it (with coupon).

My only complaint is the controls. I can't ever remember what the right sequence to power it on is, just that I think you usually have to long press the power button twice. Once it's on, the trigger is great and lets you feather it well.

I wouldn't pay $60 for it though. I bought it for $35 about a year ago. Thanks trump.

>3D Wooden Cookie Cutter Moulds
They won't work the way you want and unless you get the dough into the perfect consistency they'll either crack and not fill the form properly or wet and stick to the mold. Even if you could get that consistency right (which again, you won't) you'd use it like once or twice. 3D print one if you really must, or just make normal cookies.

>Pastry Dough Tamper Set
That tamper does very little that a spoon, wooden stick, or old drink can can't, The flower shape is cute, but the plastic will bend as you throw it into the drawer with all the other implements you don't use, and you'll also use it once for the novelty and never again. The two times you want this shape you can just cut it with a knife and use it as is. It's the illusion of time saving without any substance.

>Wooden thumb bookmark
I can't shittalk this too much, I have one, but you have to a) read enough to justify it and b) it's kind of uncomfy to hold a book that way (try it with your normal thumb), so you tend not to use it in daily life.

>Cable organizer
Works, but let's be honest how often do you need to reattach wire tape? Just use generic tape and the one time every 3 years you need to open one up cut it open with scissors and add new tape.

>PCB blanks
Post projects you want to use them for, and why you want to use through hole components for it, or you weren't gonna use it anyways.

>Metal tube squeezers
These are pretty based ngl, but you better have some tubes you can use them on, they work best on tubes made of aluminium.

None of these are time-specific as in you need them now, so just keep them to rot in your cart and use them as fillers for when you want to complete a bundle or get over the free shipping hurdle.

I have this and it's a beast with a 600W motor. It fills my room with a cloud of dust when I clean my PC, has enough pressure to get dust out of heatsink fins at a distance, and will probably last forever because it's just a big motor wired straight to AC through a switch.

so yeah, a PSA to uninformed:
chinkphones usually release their main series in jan until march to coincide with chinese new year.
if you want to buy from the main series the best time to get it is during mid-march which is the ali anniversary sale
11.11 is perfect if you want to buy the current gen phone or from their budget to mid-range which releases throughout the year (realme, poco C series, redmi A series, etc)

Is that genuinely or are you just putting me off? This one was meant as a gift too, so if it's shit and won't be used I won't get it at all. I didn't mind spending a bit more on that

Depends on what you want from it. Just dip your toes? R36S, R36H, R36XX. They're constantly on sale, could've gotten one for under 20 yesterday.
Up to PS1? Anything from the Anbernic XX series. CubeXX, 34XX, 34XX SP, 40XX; Mangmi Air X; Trimui Brick (no sticks) and Brick Hammer (same, but metal).
PS2 is on the table? Retroid Pocket 5 (but it's always cheaper on their website), Anbernic 557 and 447M. Konkr Pocket Fit might come out by that time.
Want to add Switch to the mix, and up the rendering resolution for PS2 and WiiU? Ayn Odin 2 series (and 3 will probably be out by then), Ayaneo Pocket Ace.
And last, but definitely not least, if you want something weird: Retroid Classic (vertical handheld with no sticks, that can run GameCube games, but you can't control them; has a great screen), MagicX Zero40 (2DS slab that can only run DS games and below), Ayn Thor and Ayaneo Pocket DS2 (clamshells with two screens), OneXSugar (see for yourself what the fuck that is).
Small boys (up to PS1): RG28XX, Trimui A30.
Ones to avoid: anything Miyoo (they either barely can run a thing above GBA or have cracking hinges; ignore the OnionOS lovers, not worth it), anything DataFrog (shit), Retroid Flip 2 (cracking hinges, except for a green color).
Retroid, Ayn, Ayaneo usually have better prices and run better sales on their own stores.

It's because XInput is a limiting dogshit standard where it's a 1:1 mapping of an Xbox 360 controller that won't let you assign any more buttons than the X360 has. Microsoft even purposefully fucked over DInput so that the X360 triggers correspond to a single axis so that you cannot use them independently.

thought it was pretty common now cause I see it a lot
barefoot shoes means they are close to what its like to be barefoot
the sole is flat, thin and flexible, and the front end is wide and shaped to accommodate your toes in a more natural, spread position.
this makes you walk more like you were made to evolutionary.
its hard at first cause it can hurt especially if you step on something, also it uses muscles you never used before.
with modern shoes you smash the heel on the ground cause there's insane padding.

Thanks for the replies anon, I think I stopped using music players around the time the iphone 3g came out and never really looked back - arguably for the longest time phones where cheap enough and had a jack so I didn't really need to care about an alternative. Nowadays I use bluetooth headphones if I need to and not really listen to music from my phone when I'm out and about, I think isolating myself from external noise makes my anxiety spike a bit

Wood would seem like a shit thing to use for moulds but they aren't "fine print" or what you call it moulds with intricate details so idk really might work decent enough.
Personally would only bother with classical metal moulds or get a stamper kind.

>Is that genuinely or are you just putting me off
A bit of column a, a bit of column b.
It's wood, so it's cool as a gift in that regard, but you can see from even their video that it's a kind of slow workflow; you have to roll a piece onto the wood, then cut it to size and repeat that for each one. It's much slower than generic cookie cutters.
Also you do have to get the consistency of the dough right, because otherwise both the issues I mentioned can happen - that being said it's not as hard as I made it out to be to get dough consistency right. The fact that it can be a bit of an issue you can see from the fact that they recommend you add starch into the piece as a mold release agent.
That being said it's not useless - it's a bit like mooncake molds, slower and more finicky but in return the end result looks cool, so it may be worth it to some.
Honestly as far as gifts go it looks decent.
>You're right in that none are time specific, except maybe the molds. Just wondered if it was worth the current sale. I'll keep em around
That's usually the best way to go about it, I keep a bunch of shit in my bundles cart that I may or may not want, then use those to fill bundles up to 6 items (the sweet spot for savings for me).

Imagine someone asking for suggestions for a boxcutter to open boxes at work, or a corkscrew to open wine bottles at a wedding, or a nail file, or a screw driver, etc. and someone just tells you to buy a swiss army knife. Okay, that utility knife could do all these job, but it might not do it well and may not fit the occasion.
This is exactly what's going on here. Not the same price point, not the same form factor, and you're ignoring external factors like him possibly getting mugged for it. Weights and size are different. the extra features a smartphone has are not required for his needs.

I don't think I'm a retard anon. In fact I'm infinitely more helpful than anyone who's ignoring the assignment and giving an answer which you're fine with. You need to unclutch your pearls and grow up if getting called out like this upsets you.

your example does not make sense, I would call it retarded but I'm trying to be nice.
A more apt example would be someone from work saying "Recommend a good boxcutter anon" while they carry around a perfectly good alternative (the swiss army knife) with them all the time. My question then wouldn't be "why don't you just buy a swiss army knife that costs 10x as much?" but rather "why not use the swiss army knife you already own and carry around with you?".
From that exchange I could then learn something new, if they have a good reason to want the boxcutter regardless.
