I'm thinking about buying a new pair of Porta ypross because I lost mine, and since 3.5 Jack's are dying out should I get the normal Porta Pross, the Utility one with their dongle for USB-C or the BT ones. Anyone here has the BT one and can tell me if they feel as good as the regular ones?

MDR-R10 clones aren't meme poorfag chink cans. They're for patricians who aren't afraid to throw down $53 to experience Sony's magnum opus.

Sundara>T50RP>DT 900 imo as far as sound goes. Keep in mind everything chinkfiman is built like shit. DT 900 have high distortion in the bass but very low everywhere else. Too bad their tuning is shit unless you like treble rape. The Fostex is pretty good after some mods to flatten the frequency response a little. See the distortion plots for yourself.
>>106402609
>wtf why don't people want their headphones to distort more?
Truly a mystery.

Just get the normal one and use an apple dongle if you want USB-C connectivity.

I'd prefer not to use a single at all but I guess you're right. Are there any good non cable singles to use for USB-C to 3.5? My phone doesn't have a jack.

The apple usb-c to 3.5 mm dongle is basically the best cheap one. A good amount of power and is completely transparent. The EU one outputs less power than the US one but even that one should have no issues powering the Porta Pros.

Pretty good.
>Can wireless audio actually be any decent?
If made with audio quality as the top priority, yeah. Most wireless headphones are made for the average normalnigger, that's why they're terrible. Basically anything wireless has shit longevity, though. Between the battery with a limited lifespan and the components that often fail.

Wireless is typically against the status-quo standard-issue headphone hobby/career/community opinion set courtesy of head-fi and /r/headphones. But because most of them are consoomers and aren’t really devoted to retro tech, there needs to be a carve-out. So the hobby/career/movement has chosen two select models, the Sennheiser Momentum 4 and the Audeze Maxwell, as the sacrificial goat options. It’s safe to buy these for on-the-go or airplane use. But you still want your standard-issue hurrdurr six hungos by old mate Senn at your home setup.

I wonder how these compare. Apparently they're intended to use those 40mm Aliexpress biodynas, and the squiggly lines look promising.

Do you have any recommendations for a 3.5mm to 4.4mm cable for my T50RP?

Oh it's a mk4, then Aliexpress should have you covered.
Mk3s and earlier all had 90° TRS jacks, the mk4 changed it up.

I should have mentioned that it was an mk4 initially; I apologize for that. Should I look for anything specific regarding the materials or shielding of the cable? It would have been convenient to buy a Fostex ET-RP4.4BL2.0, but it doesn't seem to be widely marketed and is expensive.
Anonymous No.106406584 [Report] >>106406812
>>106406458
Looks like they use the most common balanced 3.5mm TRRS pinout, so the vast majority of 3.5mm TRRS to 4.4mm cables should be perfectly fine. You'll probably want to look for a somewhat slim jack on the headphone side to make sure it fits the hole in the cups.
Material and shielding isn't gonna make an audible difference.

Apparently the Hifiman Deva, Audeze MM-100 and Fostex T60RP use the same connector, so if you can't find anything for the T50RP mk4 specifically, try searching for those instead.

>Should I look for anything specific regarding the materials or shielding of the cable?
NTA but no, almost any cable is fine. You'd have to have the shittiest cable known to man for it to actually affect the sound. Silver plated, gold plated, all just audiophool nonsense. I guess that sort of coating could help with oxidation but there's no audible difference between the materials. And shielding doesn't really matter either unless you're using a 20+ meter cable for some reason. Just get a TRRS to whatever connector your audio interface uses. Doesn't have to be for the Fostex or any other headphone in particular. I don't know how these headphones are wired but I remember MM-100 was fucked since most cables didn't work properly with it, ie. Only one side produced sound. Shouldn't be a problem with the Fostex since MM-100s only behaved like that because of some gay system Audeze implemented so you could plug a cable from either side.

3 months and my chinese shit hasn't exploded yet, nice. Question for y'all, my little dac seems to power them fine, is there any point to getting a beefier dac/amp like a fiio k11? I would like something that would just sit on my desk and have a volume knob, but I'm not sure if it will be worth buying for that convenience. I never know what to believe with all this stuff, and I don't have a good ear for hearing quality in audio.

>is there any point to getting a beefier dac/amp like a fiio k11?
Nothing other than the convenience of having a volume knob. You don't need a whole lot of power for these headphones and there's no audio difference between DAC/Amps as long as they're transparent and most are, except for tube amps.
