/csg/ - Chink Shit General
Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Anon, you should get one of these desk hooks for your 770's. I rest my 990's on it and it does the job. Cheap and non-permanent.

https://aliexpress.com/item/1005006975903156.html

I also now realized I kinda fucked up by trimming the padding since it's also meant to go on the edge that goes to the desk. Oh well.

Haul arrived.

>1m long fish plushy (7.19€)
It is actually 1m long, but rather thin. Still pretty insane for 7€. It looks funny enough and goes well with my silica gel and battery pillows. It's nice overall.
>Xiaomi Sound Pocket (15€)
I was the anon that posted the review a while back, loved it so much I got another as a gift for a relative that doesn't have a bluetooth speaker. It's great.
>Analog dial calipers (14€)
These are great. Seem accurate enough for my uses (I can't tell if it's actually 0.02mm, but it's close enough for my use). Mini review of those following, I like them a lot.
>Ant nest (2.29€)
That's right baby, the antism is back. I got another ant nest to use as temporary nest until the colony size is big enough to move into the bigger ones without too much stress. It's solid as a starter nest, comes with outworld, water tower, and a feeding area. Nice value.
>Polish anon's psyops tweezers (2.81€)
I hate to admit it, but these are pretty solid. Nice case too. The tweezers themselves feel relatively average, but they are very sturdy and don't deform easily, which gives me hope that they have a lot of longevity. A quick try on some smd parts showed picking them up is easy enough. Worth the money for sure compared to those ultra thin shitty ones you see in bundles a lot.
>Alligator clips (1.43€/10pcs)
>Multimeter probes (1.44€)
>Nutmilk bag (1.30€)
Not much to say about all 3 of these, I needed them, they do what they say, I'm happy.
>8 piece coaster set (4.05€)
Very happy with these. They are nicely sized, look nice, the wire holder feels sturdy and overall they just feel like great value. Somewhat thick of course, but I don't mind that. Would recommend.

Regarding the analog calipers, picrel is them compared to my digital ones I used before. As you can see we're really close here, within 0.06mm of disagreement for a given measurement, and I'm sure 0.02 or so of that is because I'm not pressing them against each other properly.

The analog calipers are very repeatable and come with both a screw to fix them at a given measurement (the one on top) and a screw to re-zero them (at the bottom).
Compared to the digital ones, they are a bit harder to move, as in take more force, because you have to move the mechanism inside too. This also has the downside of them being a bit stiffer in the position they are in though, so while with the digital calipers I'd sometimes get annoyed because after measuring if I moved the calipers away from the object to read the screen I was unsure if it had moved, I doubt this will happen with the analog ones.
The depth feeler is also a bit sturdier than the one on the digital calipers.

In the end, the big question will be corrosion, but they feel really nice to use, the fact that they have no battery is great and they were reasonably priced overall. Would definitely recommend, probably my highlight of this haul.

>>106504051
>This also has the downside of them being a bit stiffer
I meant upside, not downside. The downside is them being a bit harder to move into position, upside is them staying in position once they are there.

What's the usecase?
For hiking it's probably good, titanium items for hiking are great in general, though then I wonder why you'd want double walled.
For hot drinks like tea 175 ml feels a little small and cold alcoholic drinks won't be cold once you've hiked there, so the advantage of double walled seems lost at that point.
I'd just get those normal single walled titanium mugs with foldable grip and a little larger (mine is 420ml) those are far more versatile.

If you just want it for at home alcoholic drinks and like the vibes, sure go for it. Titanium items are usually a pretty good buy from ali.

That's actually a fairly good usecase then, the weight savings don't matter to you, the small volume doesn't either, but the material being sturdy helps. Usually I'd say stainless is better in that case, but at that price either is fine.
Should be fine, but keep in mind that "double walled" does not mean it won't get hot, even though titanium is a notoriously shit heat conductor.
Might still be a bit hot for comfort for your kids compared to something with a handle.

I would, but I'm very casual hiker: only day hikes in national parks. I just bring an insulated bottle with tea, and don't burn fires of any kind. So the lid is not exactly useful to me. I just like titanium, fucking great metal.

Fair enough, if you go on multi day hikes it's nice because you can save on fuel if you're using a stove rather than a wood fire, but for a dayhike it truly doesn't matter.

Bit of a longshot, but if you have a 3D printer, print yourself one of picrel (that's makerworld, but thingiverse has them too). Very convenient to sort your bolts or screws after a project into their proper place again.

Yeah zamak razors are cheap because it made by casting while brass, stainless steel and titanium are using cnc machine especially stainless and titanium will wear the machine much much faster than brass, took much more time to cnc than brass, cnc machines are often lease by hours so the prices of cnc stainless steel or titanium reflects that

It all depends on if you are using your free will, most people are not. Life's pretty great once you realize you can just... do things. Without justification. Want to go out at night and eat soup from a thermos on a bench in the park while listening to jams on headphones? You can just do that. Buy a 6 pack of beer and hand the bottles to strangers without explanation. Pay for a strangers groceries. Build a machine that has no purpose. Make a song that sucks.
But something tells me a man who buys a fullsize pillow of a sexualized version of a rabbit from a kid's movie for getting their rocks off won't have issue with the free will part.

Those aren't really a thing where I live, there's still relatively high trust here (at least in my parts). Also I'm white, so worst case it's a 5 min talk with the cops and them asking if I'm okay.
But obviously avoid illegal shit. My point is just you can do things without justification. You can go to the movies alone, or go to the gym (if it's open 24h) at 4am. Noone can stop you.
I think you're mostly memeing but I had that epiphany when I was in a not so great place, and understanding rather than knowing that you can be free is powerful.
I spent a lot of time never doing anything unless it was justifiable and I don't think it was good for my soul, sometimes you just have to do stuff because you wanted to.

I used to be like that a lot, still just do random things all the time, but it's unhealthy so I toned it back. We need structure. It's healthier to have a routine, to sleep and wake up at set times.
Last week I just went walking with my son after a visit to the doctor with nothing in mind and we discovered a nice place with a hidden garden and a kids corner. I don't know why but walking makes communication easier too. I take him to school through different routes to make it interesting.
Sometimes I skip the gym and just walk alone for an hour or two discovering places all over the city, listening to music.
But doing stuff at night or after midnight, no more for me. I used to lose sleep all the time doing errands for my restless insomniac brain and it would spiral into desyncing with a healthy routine, apathy, depression.

The fact that your CPU is requesting updates from the mouse 8000 times/second... The USB bus doesn't interrupt the CPU to get higher priority. That's why it's called a polling rate. PS/2 mice and keyboards do send interrupts, making their latency lower than optical mice in almost every case.

No one can recommend a good one because the most important aspect of a mouse isn't the technology like the switches or sensors, it's the subjective mouse shape
A mouse could be the best technical marvel in the world but if it feels like shit in your hand, it's bad (for you)
The best you can do is consider mice you found comfortable in the past and check eloshapes.com for mice that are similarly shaped.
Then find the one(s) with a PAW3395 sensor or if you're really strapped for cash, a PAW3311 sensor.

This is probably one of those situations where if you're at either extreme, it's good to move towards a middle ground.
Obviously I'd agree we need structure, but I think I had too much structure, where every action I'd take needed justification or I'd not do it, resulting in a pretty boring existence. But obviously if you have no structure, that's just as soul-sucking.
>But doing stuff at night or after midnight, no more for me
Honestly the midnight examples were primarily because I couldn't come up with stuff that's both an expression of free will and generalized. I'm blessed with great sleep, so I never had that issue, but I know some people with issues sleeping and it sounds like hell. In the end it's all about doing what works for you.
In my case I was just a little too much in the rational/justified lane and needed some more "because I can" stuff in my life.

Vaginal, Breeding, the occasional bridal gown, leg lock, preferably as a written story.
If anything I've gotten more tame over time kek. All the hardcore hentai shit freaks me the fuck out, especially if they're screaming or crying or some shit.

I got one of those about two years ago since my active speakers died. It works fine, but it won't play a noise until the sound is a little high. If I'm playing a game, like minecraft, where walking makes a tiny noise, it won't play them, but when I break a block, it will, but only the later half of the break noise, and then it will play anything until the noise floor is low again.
If I'm playing music, it's mostly fine, unless there is a song with some silence in the middle or the pause between song and song is too long.
Same with videos, if there is a pause or something, when they talk again, it will take half a second.
Any way to disable this "sleep" mode, or maybe lower the noise floor?

I wouldn't be surprised if you're contending with bots.

Ram is a commodity.
As long as it matches its details, 16GB 3200MHz, that's usually all most people care about.

If you're only after the genuine article and want to check,
there's nothing for it but to google everything.
- find pictures, and see if the placement of the chips, resistors, whatever are the exact distances apart. (There are apparently several standard pcb layouts.)
- see if they're supposed to have chips from a particular manufacturer and if so then the part numbers of those chips. (Lots of manufacturers just use whoever is cheapest at producing the chips at the given spec.)

I thought maybe RAM could be like storage where they could spoof it to show certain results on tests but the reality is completely different. Memtest showed me all the serial numbers and everything, I could contact Kingston I guess.
I'm going to have to send my laptop for repair soon anyway so will have to take the sticks back out for a bit, just thought I'd test them while I could. Most SODIMM DDR4 is CL22, this one was CL20 which is why I went for it, that and the price of course.

All the bits and chucks are acceptable to good, except the 90 degree grip chuck doesn't seem like it's gonna last.
All 3 phone/monitor stands on the top right suck.
The black/white plastic magnetic wire organizers also suck.
The red aluminum scribes are excellent.
The silver poking tools are excellent.

The white box on the right is supposedly adhesive ear cleaners and are useless and possibly radioactive. (yes i did)

they're intentionally trying to make it so you can only ever redeem a small amount at a time, which means you have to meet the 10€/10$ shipping threshold, and then it's like a 1€ discount on a 10€ order, which isn't nearly as impressive.
Interestingly 3D printing filament seems to be the one exception, as there's a few listings over 10€ (like 10.40€) which means free shipping (most are 9.99€ for that exact reason). Stacking coins plus shopping credit and maybe a coupon code from late delivery results in >>106507733 , which is a steal for 1kg PLA, even if it's low-tier PLA. Plus PLA filament is a consumable, so it's something you'd do more than once.

>1/4" hex/square bit and socket ratchet
Feels well made but takes a lot of resistance to ratchet. Oddly it seems to have a really high tooth count, I counted 16 clicks to turn the square drive 1/8 of a turn.
>Soldering iron tips, ANENG voltage detecter
haven't tested yet
>HUK Tools comb pick set
Oddly this got deleted from aliexpress, even from my orders. They're nice and rigid but may be too thick to fit in some locks.
>100pk bandaids

>Kasugano Sora chibi figure and normal figure

>Hatsune Miku figure
Actually quite nice. Molding is rough and there's some marks in the paint but her shorts are textured the face is good.

Will test the actual capacity at some point -- USB tester should be arriving soon, and I already have a load.

>how do you avoid the "buy cheap, buy twice" thing?
chinkshitting is a skill, just like any other thing that you can learn. The tricks of the trade are many, but the biggest takeaway that I think too few people understand is that the chinese are the ultimate libertarians.
They will sell you what you ask for.
That means if you look for the absolute lowest priced item of a category, and filter by price, they'll give you exactly what you asked for: An item that was engineered to perfect to be cheap to manufacture. You can go on temu and find a tent for 20€. It will suck ass in any way you can think of: Too heavy, no breathability, cheap stakes, hard to assemble, but by god, it'll be cheap. If you just need something to have over your head for that one festival that's not during peak summer and you'll likely not use it ever again so it won't matter if a drunk guy falls on it and it breaks, that's a great deal. If you want a hiking tent - it's not.
If you go and instead of asking for the cheapest possible tent, you ask for a upper mid market tent with premium features for a fair price, you can find that too. Naturehike makes those for example. You'll get premium features, at mid market prices. But if you don't know what to care for in a tent, you might miss it.

A lot of the "chinese stuff is low quality" view (prejudice) in my opinion, comes from westerners going for the absolute cheapest they can find an item and then being surprised if it's shit.
In the west, you can often buy the cheapest of an item, because there's a high chance it's "good enough" - it'd be socially unacceptable to sell something that barely fits the criteria. In china, the safety inhibitors are off so to speak, you're expected to be an adult and to know what you're asking for.

TL;DR: Don't go for the absolute cheapest shit and you'll get great quality.

I'll be honest anon, chinkshitting might not be for you. If you aren't willing to learn the process, you will continue to make the same mistakes. Maybe for you the solution is buying western then, where the average variability of quality is much lower within item categories. That means you don't have to think, though obviously you're paying a premium for the privilege.
This isn't a value judgement by the way - I just think if you aren't willing to deal with all that, local might be better for you.

It can pack 9 bits actually, and you can swap in other ones too since they seem to be of a standard size. My cousin has one of those and I used it once while helping him assemble ikea furniture and fell in love with it. But it's a lidl brand (parkside) and they only keep stock of tools for a while before they switch them out. I followed their catalog every week for like a year before I gave up and they never had it in stock again. I got myself a thermal printer instant camera, it's quite fun actually.
Some stuff it really can't handle well, but higher contrast images it does really nicely with. I've found architecture in that style to be very fun.

What are some (somewhat exotic) smart wearables that are NOT shit? I don't mind a subscription but it has to be worth it.

Feel free to suggest wearables in the following categories but from what I've seen, in each category the most popular brand has a scammy business model :

>Smart wristbands

>Whoop 5.0
You pay $400 once for the device (which is probably just as good as any other wristband of the same price range) and then it's $30 per month to use their "algorithms" to get insights into your health metrics.
You're basically paying a company to exploit your health data.

>Smart rings

>Oura 4.0
Has shit battery life compared to competition, ring in itself is nothing really special and is also subscription based.
Also they recently partnered up with Palantir.

>RingConn
Better battery life and no subscription and seems to be on par with Oura 4 but it's chinese and they're being sued for copyright infringement by Oura.

>Smart glasses

Most of the glasses I have found have these basic features :
>Video recording
>AI integration with voice commands
>Hands free phone calls
>Music

The ones that have actually interesting features such as screen projection need a mobile phone to work (you connect the glasses to your phone and use it as a controller) or a computer.

The only ones I could find that are available on the market and seem to have integrated UI are "Rokid" and it's very basic UI so nothing like pic related.

tl;dr Smart glasses, for now, are mostly a gimmick from what I've seen.

> Smart watches

Haven't looked into it yet.

The Z2 Mini does not feel nicer in my hand for the 3-finger claw grip that I use and is in fact a little too big
Would've been nice if I did find it comfortable because the hotswappable microswitches on the Z2 Mini would've been nice to have in my daily driver mouse
