/csg/ - Chink Shit General
Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

I have those except multimeter
I think I need some starter DIY kits to learn soldering, like alarm bell or led and shit. Any recommend?
Anonymous No.106576328 [Report] >>106576402
>>106576307
I usually default to the position that people should just get started as their first project, rather than do some starter kit to get used to it, but even if you want a finished kit, you'll at the very least have to ask yourself if you want through hole or smd.

A relative gifted me a self-soldering bluetooth speaker kit. While I didn't need it, it was entertaining to put together and very easy, so might be worth a look.

>alright, I'll grab some 0-2$ kits next sale to get it starting
Fair enough, though eventually you'll have to do your own projects anyways.
>Literally have no idea what Im doing
You'll figure it out quickly. Soldering isn't all that complex. Coming up with the circuit is the main task of electronics work.
>For multimeter. Would you recommend buying cheap ones or something that's decently build?
That depends on what you want it for. I'd stay away from the giga cheap ones, as those have questionable accuracy and fuses. Middle market is perfectly fine, I have a uni-t one and had it for many years, zero complaints there. The expensive ones are only an issue if you need specific accuracies or specific features. If you did, you'd already know about that, so just get a normal one. You'll likely use voltage, current and continuity, which basically every multimeter has.
For price I'd be looking in the 10-25€ range if you're on a budget, below that I'm seriously suspicious (something like the ANENG SZ308 just seems sus, though aneng isn't a super bad brand), 25-60 is also a good range for a mid market meter with a few more features and accuracy. Anything above 60€ or so is overkill for you.
As for features, stay away from overly large and flashy screens-you don't need that, just results in less battery life. And try to make sure it has generic probe points at the front, no proprietary connector that you have to re-buy and hope it's in stock if it ever breaks or corrodes.
A feature that's not necessary, but really nice to use is "auto range", which makes measurement easier if you don't know the rough range of voltage/current beforehand.

Looks like the pinecil mentioned in the guide is no longer available. Is there a similarly cheap option? Pinecil v2 is 66€. I just have a couple small projects to solder. Feels like a waste to drop a bunch of money into a kit.

It's still available, but you gotta order from Pine64 directly. Even with the tax, shipping and customs it'll be cheaper than getting it locally. Also any and all Pinecils on Ali are fakes.

AS the other anon said, you want to get it from pine64. If you're a euro, it may become a bit expensive, in which case a T12 station (~25€) is a good alternative.

Oh yeah, forgot that they didn't even charge me the tax, and after that the only extra payment I had to make was customs at the postal office when picking it up, before which of course I had to send an e-mail about what the fuck was in the package cuz apparently the prices that they put on it were half of what I paid. Still paid less for the whole set than what I would from Allegro for the Pinecil alone.

Anonymous No.106577079 [Report] >>106577184

What exactly are you hoping for here? Scratch resistance? Fair enough.
But carbon fiber isn't soft, so it won't help transfer impacts which is what those rubber cases do and it's only strong in one dimension (2 if weaved properly). Forces perpendicular to the weave (so any force vector close to vertical to your phone) will not really be mitigated much by this.
Then again on the upside it should be relatively light.
Just seems like it's selling itself on the fact that normies hear carbon fiber and assume it's some super material that's a straight upgrade, when it's only great in specific applications.

Just basic protection against nicks and scratches and they look less bulky than the alternatives. I am just worried if the fit is a lottery and the edges of the case are sharp or get caught in stuff.

>I am just worried if the fit is a lottery
Should be pretty standardized as it's basically a generic mold. Wouldn't worry on that front desu.
>and the edges of the case are sharp or get caught in stuff
That part I can't say anything about though, I don't know how it works in industrial settings, but small scale manufacturing you often cut the excess off, in which case the cutting edges need sanding. I'd try to look for review images, if the area doesn't look rough, probably fine.

Highly recommend the AN8009 as well. I have had these for 7 years, and have absolutely no complaints.

Battery life lasts a long time, and they are as precise as promised. The review site https://lygte-info.dk/review/DMMAnengAN8009%20UK.html rates them highly as well, the only concern being a little bit of safety issues if it is used on mains electricity.

Two things though:

You may at some point want to do the capacitor mod on this multimeter. It's easy, and it makes it a lot faster: https://www.jackenhack.com/aneng-an8008-modify-for-better-accuracy-faster-readings/

If you are doing a lot of circuit tracing, I would also recommend getting gold-plated meter probes. I recommend silicone insulation as well, for extra flexibility, and replaceable screw-on tips, because sometimes the tips break when you drop them or the gold plating wears after a lot of use. I have and recommend the Cleqee P1300: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808609403202.html

This is stupid. It doesn't meet safety standards for the one multimeter job where portability might be nice (house wiring) and you use your meter's kickstand while working on projects at a bench.

The probes also aren't swappable, and the coil looks really annoying to work with since they'll constantly be pulling away from your workpiece.

Googling the product number shows that it's just the Chinese version of the Yoga Tab 2025.
Any Chink tablet users think this is worth buying and hoping a global ROM becomes available eventually? Anyone have any experience with using a Chinese ROM outside of China? From what I've read the only things that might be an issue are Google Play Services breaking between OTA updates, having to install custom fonts to not have fucked Chink symbols in English text, a mandarin only AI chatbot that can't be disabled, and a few parts of the UI being Chinese even with it set to English. Trying to decide if its worth the risk that I end up with issues that I didn't think of ahead of time

Would absolutely NOT RECOMMEND getting anything off someone's advice. I myself went through about 30 saddles before I found one that fits me -- this had nothing to do with chink quality, just the shape. Some people swear by SMP, I absolutely hated it. Same goes for the Flite. What worked for me -- Fizik Arione VsX -- is a torture device for some. Hit your local (good) bike store, they should have test saddles. Find one you like, then shop for the one in the same shape.

KoolStop if you want to stop. I don't think you're burning through them like the DH guy above, so it would be a worthwhile investment. If that's a bit too rich for your blood, OEM or BBB will do a decent job.

Check out Sofirn BS01 (actual chink product!). It's like using tripadvisor with english settings in europe. Aggregate reviews can indicate a direction, but you have to actually read some to get an idea of what it is they take issue with. Oh, and considering you're in London, there are a lot of good shops with test saddles.
You can go one step further. Really good shops often have an option of measuring your seat bones and based on that data (and type of riding you do, your position and a couple of other parameters) they will offer you a selection of saddles that should fit you the best. Most serious saddle manufacturers have their own compatibility tables, and you can approximately measure your ass at home -- using flour, bags or some other makeshift methods.

If it's because police does specific inspections, then it's worth looking at your local law first.
A lot of countries have certain certificates they require to make the lights legal.
In any civilized country, the cops won't care about those and not check, and even if they did they'd tell you to get a different light and let you go without a fine, but if you're asking due to controls already, it's worth considering.

Mine is likely far beyond your budget, A&D Engineering FX-120i. They're like $700.

For true precision shooting you need custom-loaded ammo and being able to load your cartridges with an EXACT amount of powder that's consistent for each round can make a big difference in getting high precision groupings.

The more regular $50-200 digital scales will generally not have the same level of precision and consistency, but if you have a calibration weight and are willing to recalibrate occasionally those cheaper scales can be just fine if you don't need SUPER high degree of precision in whatever you're doing.

It seems like the technic I knew was really about teaching kids about how stuff works while giving them something to play with.
Nowadays, it’s all (very nice looking, admittedly) models for manchildren to put into a showcase where you can’t see shit.
Are there still brands that do stuff where you actually see how stuff works first and have it look like the real deal second?
Seems like cada and mold king are now the best technically options, but those appear to be display models too.

i had to buy textbooks back in college and i thought i'd be able to sell them after i was done with them.
wrong. every year either had a new ed coming out with slight alterations or they'd come with a workbook which had to get used. sometimes there would be online only modules with unique codes which would also be used up in order to pass the course.

Well, with the right timing, he's got a point, it's insane what prices some of this stuff brings in. Had wee lil' me left his various legos in their boxes, unopened, it could now sell them all for 3 to 20 times as much as my parents payed for them! And don't get me started about those various 1st gen Star Wars sets. But on the latter, with the new and improved death start starting at 1k, i guess there's not so much more breathing space left.
Plus, it certainly is nice to make a few hundred bucks on some lego sets, but how much lego can you realistically store in an average household? You're looking at a few k max, that you can make, ignoring the opportunity costs of storing all that shit.

dear /g/entoomen, how can I outjew a chink? I have been ordering cheap chink shit around 3/4 dollars and returning it after receiving the package, they usually just sent the money right away without expecting me to send it back, I have done it multiple times, so far it worked. This time I ordered something more expensive (compressed air duster) for 16 dollars, and they keep nagging me about returning the product to the parcel first, I had thought about returning empty box or putting a jar filled with enough water to make it heavy enough but I am not sure if they will send the money after they get their product back or will they do it after me putting it in the parcel. Has any of you tried to outjew the chink?

Headlight? Flashlight? Clip light? I would go with a headlight -- don't know where you are hiking, but I prefer my hands free. Wurrkos HD10 or HD15 is what I had, no complaints. Has an internal replaceable battery of a standard size (14500 for 10, 18650 for 15), so you can swap it once the stock one dies. Mighty bright, 2h battery life on 10, 3h on 15. Both can be used as both headlamp, clipped to something (chest strap) or just in hand.
HD10 also has Anduril autism included (see picrel)

Do you also think your money is worth nothing, until you decide to use it? Like

Of course you can not put a completetly fixed price on stuff that you could sell, until you have sold it, but an asset is an asset. some are shitty assets and some are good ones, but that little fact is at the core of our whole economic system.

First bad experience I had with Ali in basically a decade.
I ordered something on the 18th of August, no updates at all since the 19th, reached out to the seller on the 31st and once again on the 4th, where they said the package got lost and they were sending another.
On the 8th I asked again for the new tracking number but when I checked on cainiao it gave me an "Abnormal status" and the seller said they did ship it but couldn't change the tracking number.
Told them I would ask for a refund on the 12th if it didn't update and that's exactly what I did.
I got the refund in seconds and it's all fine on that front, but I don't know if I should order it again (from another seller) or if the thing I got is really on the way.
What should I do?

Unless you’re a total retard that bought a crack shack made out of asbestos on an EPA superfund site on top of an Indian graveyard, that house will never be worth $0. Is it possible that you will have to sell it for less than you bought it for? Absolutely. But $0 is just not how it works.
Hell, even the cheap shit we’re discussing here mostly ist worth more than 0. There’s skyways the occasional anons who make money on reselling this stuff for more than they paid for, because they understand economics.

I'm simplifying of course, but society only works if we uphold the social contract. You are breaking that social contract to gain an advantage, which you hope will be minor enough of an infraction that noone will punish you for it.
In game theory, there's a reason tit-for-tat is the way most societies developed - societal cooperation doesn't work without it. I simply believe that what you're doing is wrong and if you aren't punished for it it erodes societal norms, hence I want you to be punished for it.
>But muh giant corpo
Putting the fact that the company being comparatively large to the damage done aside, it doesn't change if it's wrong or not wrong. If I shit in your food a smaller amount, it's still bad.
Even within your framework the justification doesn't work though, because you're not hurting aliexpress, they're just reducing that money from the seller, so that seller is who you're hurting. A lot of sellers on ali are neither rich nor part of larger companies, unless you specifically target large well established stores.

I'm not gonna issue a fatwa against you for it, but I do think you're a degenerate for it. The same logic leads to people stealing in public places, leaving trash etc. It's subhuman behavior.

>I'm simplifying of course, but society only works if we uphold the social contract.
That part I get, personally I doubt whether it will work with more expensive stuff, even if I shit in the jar and send it, they will most likely verify it and not send me money, however if they as a middleman between seller and buyer decide to send money back to a buyer without the need to return the product, it's their financial choice and not really a problem
Anonymous No.106592854 [Report] >>106592921
>>106592792
>it's their financial choice and not really a problem
Well kinda, but the choice is done by aliexpress, while the burden is carried by the seller. Hence you're hurting the seller primarily, not the platform.
I suppose depending on your moral framework some of the blame is on the platform too, but it doesn't change the fundamentals in my view.
In the end I can't stop you, but I have always been a stickler for rules and even on a purely egoistical level I find that being moral is better for the conscience/soul, for lack of a better word

like i said, the (market) value to you is $0 unless you can sell it. you only think that it's NOT worth $0 because >>other people might not consider it to be $0<< and this is the basis of your argument.
you're basing your entire argument on the hypothetical value which other people MAY pay for, when in all practicality it's not real until you actually make the trade and get the money in your hands.

this entire thing is only confusing because:
1. you don't understand any of these terms you're using
2. you don't understand your own argument on a fundamental level
3. you're straight up not reading what i'm typing because you're an extremely poor debater and unintelligent person

Some stuff can be worth a bit since people will want old shit when they're out of print, but you're not gonna get crazy amounts of profit unless it was super limited.
