What does HarmonyOS do differently?
I understand China needs the OS for self sufficiency, but not others.

They still have to release their code.
Which they will do eventually, since they are linux kernel contributors as well.

Once that happens, i will be officially only running Xi Jinping approved software.

>What does HarmonyOS do differently?
It is a whole new kernel developed from scratch, with a micro kernel architecture.
When was the last time you saw a new kernel being developed and widely deployed?
In 1991 when Linux got announced? In 1988 when the first Windows NT kernel released?

>building from scratch with no Linux kernel dependency

They already did.

First they had a compatibility layer to also run linux. And they dropped that years ago. Nowadays they only support native Harmony OS applications.
It's the first actually new, widely deployed, operating system of the past 30 years.
