Why has no other phone company tried to emulate the tile interface of windows phones?

The OS was built around the UI and it was beautiful. The ZuneHD deserved more love than it ever got for being the proving grounds for this OS.

My reaction to the metro UI.
That garbage is disgusting and needs to die.

>So lets like make a UT that has 3 different sized tiles... that everyone hates and makes them less efficient
>How about instead of useful information the tails show nothing!
>And white on yellow is such a unreadable color...
>So lets use that one
>And the icons are flat shit made in MS paint by a 5 year old!

Like how is any part of that a good thing?

I only ever used the ZuneHD which is the predecessor to the windows phone UI. You have to use it to understand how fucking great it was. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a non-autistic video demonstrating it.

I doubt that.

That you can not explain to people who do not have your brand of autism....

Today I learned the zune autists are the most retarded kind of autist!

A) Trolling
B) Actually have crippling autism

I have never seen this level
>I can not explained why it is good it is good
Since Apple fags in the 2000s internet.

It's pretty elegant to look at. And right now it's something more interesting than the appgrid with awkward widgets.

Since you're too smooth brain to pick up what is shown. It's uniform and it flows. No ugly grid of who the fuck knows icons to have to dig through every time. Both iOS and android are guilty of this. Sure you can rice android to fix the icons but you're still stuck with a grid or a hobcobbled list. iOS tries to categorize things for you but shit just goes into categories that often makes no sense so you end up just using the list or searching the app name if you don't have it pinned to your hodgepodge homescreen. Folders make it somewhat easier but holy fuck has a system for putting an icon in a folder never been so completely fucked. Like the old banner ads you had to click the monkey for a prize level shit.

as someone who was a pretty big Nokia sperg back in the day I struggle to say it was a practical UI to use. I think it looks good for mobile but navigating the menus could be fucking confusing at times.
it was a good experiment, nothing else.

I honestly liked the off-center style of wp7 better than wp8.

the tragedy of these phones was, that google singlehandedly killed it, by not supporting ANY of ther products. no official youtube app for once.

I had two of them and I was sad to see them go

It looks quite nice, but in terms of functionality, I don't think you can beat a grid of uniformly sized and spaced icons

Because Microsoft always picks the worst possible choice of all. And I absolutely loved Metro UI, it was sleek and not bloated, windows phone was also really fast on lowest tier devices.

I sometimes wonder, there are enough people out there who already don’t shuffle around and manage their app buttons on the widely known UIs such as on Android and iOS and just leave it be, with Metro UI you also have those different sizes and whatnot, so I really doubt people bothered modifying those, let alone changing their sizes. So I can bet that there were plenty of people who even got annoyed by the little things like „Why is my mail app so small, it’s that thing I use all the time“

I miss this era of phones like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately democracy prevailed and instead of having a tiny laptop with a full keyboard and stylus, we have dumb dumb duplo block toddler toys that a billion indians use to shit up the internet.
Rip.

I used to get 6-8 hours of use from my Xperia, it would last a day if left in my pocket. Could play ages of empires for about 3 hours, or watch one movie.
I ended up with a double charger (you could pop a new battery in back then) and 4 batteries. Even got a little solar charger and used to take it camping.
