/idg/ - Internet Doomsday General
"No copypasta/resources for the OP just yet" edition.
==============================
In this thread we post strategies, resources and technologies that can help in dealing with the glooming future of the internet. We see mass surveillance, digital ids, data restrictions, bans and much worse being pushed everywhere now.
==============================
We try to find ways to cope: encryption, recognizing and blocking bots/AI, data archiving, obtaining data safely from the internet, ways to circumvent current and future blocks, alternative infrastructure/networks that we can use etc. Also, news about restrictions, new policies belong here.
We got threads /cyb/+/sec/, /hsg/ and /ptg/ for some of these, but I thought a thread that focuses on recent developments regarding policies and Western government plans on destroying the internet and tech would be more fitting.

with all the usenets, I2P, hyphanet, tor and whatnot,
is there one that uses v2ray/xtls?

with how "cheap" VPS' are, I thought the chinks and/or russians would have set up a node network by now

Where do you even start? How do you decide what to download?
Anonymous No.106888817 [Report]
It's getting harder every day to find stuff online. This difficulty is compounded by the normalization of AI which steers users away from finding stuff themselves.

The golden age of retrieving first hand and legitimate sources within seconds, is over. And again with AI, it will continue to get harder to authenticate what is legitimate and what is made up, as information is rewritten by LLMs.

AI is directly involved in suffocating the users ability to exchange information freely as the internet is slowly completely filtered through it.

1) Yes, archive everything
2) But make it accessible as much as possible

This is a public good.

I hate the antichrist.

i have been theorycrafting and thought experimenting how the internet could be disabled/destroyed/become useless overnight

2 big scenarios ive seen discussed in media is

a)mass cyber and kinetic attacks all at once of under sea cables, sat comms, radio links, gps by a large state actor(as discussed in the movie "leave the world behind"

b)self propagating AI directed worms/malware that destroy the ability for large networks to form, forcing us to create smaller networks that are easier to isolate(plot device of cyberpunk 2077)

either way we are reaching probably going to have some sort of "cyber pearl harbor" event or "cyber911" eventually just due the nature of our dependency on the internet and its going to fuck shit up. just look at how recent network outages have crippled countries for a day or two and theyve been large singular networks/corporations going down.

personally im just starting to datahorde stuff that is getting increasingly annoying to find due to how shitty hosting files and streaming is becoming, game ROMs are becoming really annoying to find due to constant takedown requests and gay rules, modpacks, based documentaries made before 2016 about fringe topics that are increasingly being brought into the "no-no" zone, history documentaries and shows made before UK forced a certain percentage of actors to be a certain race for every new show. shit like that

for me it's trainhopping content

Your "cyber911" idea seems like a real possibility, in the sense of manufacturing some kind of digital threat that "requires" state governments to lock down their part of the internet behind national firewalls "for safety".

china did a beta test for 1 hr at like midnight in august where they disconnected the entire internet via port 443 to see what would happen. russia i believe does these tests periodically as well. something is definitely coming

Moreover, if the majority of normies are increasingly addicted to AI generated content, which can easily be cloned on local servers, then they would be unlikely to notice or care if they were to wake up one day behind a national firewall.

The only way solution is to leave the clearnet. Hyphanet/Freenet or i2p. Why? Because phonefaggots can't reach us there.

Notice how I didn't include TOR. Phonefaggots can connect to TOR, so that's my second option.

this basically already happens and the smaller networks just get flooded with cp

Two thoughts I had:
>Would it be possible to create your own hardware to access the web? Like a homemade IRC client made from discreet components?
>The possibility of Anons creating their own mesh network as a means of physically creating their own internet, since ISPs will always be the weakest link.
