I have a HP Elitebook, which I'm about to chuck in the bin because of this thing it does where after going to sleep it then gets stuck trying to wake itself; I have to shut it down when taking it somewhere else the CPU will spin up to 100% so it cooks itself in my bag while burning the battery to 0, and to forcibly keep it awake when stationary.
I can't work out whether this is due to a bug with the AMD CPU, Windows being garbage, or Windows modern standby but either way Microsoft can go fuck themselves for taking away the simple/functional "suspend to RAM" type of sleep mode that used to exist and I'm now willing to consider moving to a Mac.
Long story short, if I look at a Mac Pro how much RAM do I need? Go for the Pro and max it out at 48GB? And are Apple still doing the thing where the SKUs with the smallest storage capacity run like shit because of gimped NAND, ie. do I need to shell out for a model with 2TB?
