to be fair, KDE's autotiling options are absolute dogshit. GNOME's Forge manages to be good but it's technically unmaintained and will irreparably break at some point since the project didn't manage to find any suitable contributors.

It's a funny meme, but I am on KDE for the last ~10 years (same system in fact, no reinstall or distro-hoping) and KDE "krashed" maybe 5 times? probably less- so it is also false meme. At least for me.
I had a bunch of other issue with it but that's not fair to point out as I had them with any DE I've used

XFCE's my go-to DE but I've been on Hyprland and Niri for a while before switching to KDE again (because of the impending wave of friends and family switching to Linux from Windows 10) and it's not really that bad

Only remotely interesting one that wasn't a Tiling one I've seen was Wayfire and it didn't work with fcitx5 so I had to give up on it
