When will the AI bubble pop.
Anonymous No.106922141 [Report]
Whenever there's enough market strain on Nvidia. They're the ones basically dishing out free mone- I mean investments to companies so they can buy their shit.

You have to convince everyone to make a run on the stock market to remove their money from AI companies.

if it's not going to pop then would it be a good idea to get a masters in applied or computational AI/Machine learning?
Cuz thats where companies are heading or something?

Maybe for the future, but for now it's still 80% market manipulation on behalf of Nvidia, OpenAI, and all those leeching off the circular """investment""".

no that's a good master's regardless
AI is useful and it will continue to exist forever

the bubble popping does not mean AI will stop existing
it means the 1 billion AI startup companies will stop existing and NVIDIA will stop being overpriced

Of course it'll be around forever. I'm just unsure it's worth dedicating a masters to cuz I could just do some online research if I wanna do it. Furthermore, I already did an internship where I made an AI-powered program to manage documents.

My guess is, not for a while, even though I think AI is retarded. It's not actually an AI bubble, it's a capital investment in GPUs bubble. The superscalers (AWS, Microsoft, Oracle) are spending trillions collectively on GPUs. When AI inevitably fails to replace knowledge workers, it'll knock out maybe ~100 billion of bullshit AI companies with no real revenue; but the GPUs are still going to be sitting in data centers, and that'll be what the superscalers need to bamboozle their investors into thinking aren't an albatross.

They'll only realize that the GPUs are useless after maybe ~3 years, once there's been a generation or two of hardware development that means they need to buy new GPUs despite under-utilization of their existing fleet... unless NVIDIA intentionally delays releasing new technologies to try and extend the useful life of GPUs in the wild. But when no-one is buying GPUs because they have racks in data centers full of them that they can rent for pennies on the dollar, NVIDIA is gonna feel the pressure to put out some big new technology to get people buying their cards again.

Nvidia is providing real goods which cost real money (GPUs) that are nonetheless being paid with Nvidia's own money. Thus Nvidia is losing money. So probably when Nvidia runs out of money.

thats not what the dot com bubble was though
the dot com bubble was a period where everyone, their mother, and their dog had a website, and investors were buying up domains like real estate
after the dot com bubble crashed people stopped investing in websites and instead of there being a plethora of smaller websites with large chunks of traffic, it began to condense into tech giants that had all the traffic
