i started blocking ads on the 'web when they started to use flash, taking a significant amount of time to load on my dial up and started to play sounds. at that point, approximately 20 years ago now, i had had enough. i've never even before then intentionally clicked on an ad. i didn't care when they were out of the way, just a static banner or a lightly animated gif, but beyond that was too much.
i know they exist to keep things free, but that doesn't mean i have to accept when they go too far.
these days i know too much about how they work to accept any kind of advertising anymore, manipulation is not only something they do, it's what they are, it's their entire purpose. i do my own research when i'm looking for a product, i have no use for ads.
i haven't seen any modern ads to comment on your particular examples, but i can imagine they're far worse now
