The Supreme Court changing its mind and saying that Google actually is an illegal monopoly that needs to divest from Chrome. An actual movement to adopt Firefox, LibreWolf, Pale Moon, and Basilisk instead of Chromium-based browsers. Web developers actually making standards-compliant websites instead of using whatever experimental feature works in Chrome. This does sound like an uphill battle but remember that IE was once at 95% market share which is even higher than that of all Chromium-based browsers right now.

Nothing can be done about it, the web standards spec is both living and huge requiring hundreds of thousands of lines of code. The real solution is for programmers to start using other platforms then the web to deliver their applications to customers. You are literally three ifdefs away from making a cross platform program that can even run on a browser. If the user wants to download the program just stick a big download button on the website version.

Not a damn thing.
The reason Chrome got to its current position is because Google can implement some new feature in Chrome and then immediately make it mandatory on Google Search or Youtube. And any other browser that refuses to or can't implement that new feature will be immediately abandoned by its users because everyone uses Google Search and Youtube.
Every non-Google browser ends up having to eternally catch up to Chrome just in an effort to maintain even basic compatibility with modern web pages.

Normies can use Firefox, people that care can use Librewolf and switch to Ladybird when it is released. Chromium has always been a problem that I watched from the side. Not my problem. I still use the same Librewolf with normal uBlock Origin I always did. Nothing has changed for me.

To make a real change a new browser will have to use its own standards designed to destroy the bloat that is modern web. Some microblogging projects have sort of the right idea, just in reverse. You want a fully-functional web browser that doesn't support jeetdesign.

Browser speed is a diminishing returns thing.
I get that if you have OCD and you're used to 1 second load times 1.3 seconds can trigger it but normal users don't have an episode about it.
The only actual problem with Firefox is that the devs always try to shove some retarded shit down your throat "feature" during updates and you need a few minutes to figure out how to disable it and that happens only once a year really.

Chrome was originally safari (webkit) at which point Apple contributed most if the code.
Google wrote chrome to make it “run on more platforms” and ended up making it run on less that webkit had.
