Anyway, the main reason I wouldn't recommend Mint for Windows users is that there's only 4 years of support for releases.

Linux was originally released under another license, it was Stallman and his henchmen who bullied Linus who was just a kid into changing it so they could hijack it, and they certainly tried.
as Stalinman tried to force a rename to liGNUx before settling on GNU/Linux which is something turbocommies use unironically even on /g/ as a fuck you to the original developer, who has stated that it would not apply to any distro which doesn't explicitly adopt the terminology.

It's a French project, and we all now the world have not enough taste & refinery to appreciate the French natural superiority. So I propose you all migrate to something more mundane like Ubuntu or that you role play as an actual linux user with a Gentoo.

But of course we all know you're just posers.

I can't recommend Mint because:
1. Right after that statement, their site got hacked so it distributed compromised ISOs. The project kept getting attacked frequently after that too.
2. They stopped making LMDE with XFCE, building it with Mate and Cinnamon instead. They also never fully switched to Debian.
3. Despite the above they adopted systemd, when it was probably the only project with the means to comfortably make non-systemd forks of Ubuntu or Debian.
4. They broke time compatibilty with other distros, even their previous ones.
5. It has always been a bloated distro and it seems they will never fix this.

I don't know if any of these things have changed for the better now and I don't care. The fact that they happened at all showed the project achieved things in spite of how it was directed, not because of it.
