Its been dead since 2010s. You have internet that is mainly run by WEF mandated narrative talking points. Whatever the WEF wants their media to push the narrative, is discussed on most platforms nowadays. Even 4chan has those brainwashed people because they use other sites and come here to post their WEF propaganda.

it's a bit more obvious on places like reddit, twitter, and facebook where's the bots are more rooted, but you still have tons of shills, brigading, and psyops on 4chan
the best now is probably closed communities on discord or similar, but discord by itself is kind of garbage. best would be to revert back to irc honestly, or at least some place that don't censor and moderate to hell and back

I personally know for a fact that the /pcbg/ threads are botted out the ass

the OP format is very specific so that the bots know what to talk about, but if you snipe the the new thread with your own OP, half of the replies you get are all broken to fuck

also /sci/ has a fuckload of bots, especially during covid there were a few obvious spammers

If you've been around longer than a few summers, then you can definitely tell there's been a huge drop in thread quality. One-off threads are usually shit, but this applies to generals now too, regardless of what your stance on them are. This board in particular is less active than it previously was, and there's less anons who actually know what they're talking about (less than there previously already was).

Some /sqt/-tier threads comes off as though they were made by an uninitiated underage b&/thirdie who even didn't bother making a simple search query, let alone lurking for a while. Also, no one knows how to have fun anymore, everyone is a serious faggot with a strange complex against anime of all things. "Oldfags" are simply finding greener pastures, and retards are taking their place.

IRC would be good for having a higher barrier of energy than Discord, even if it isn't that much more complicated. Aside from IRC, invite only communities will be the only way to have a pool of decently intelligent human users. There has to either be an invitation only system, or a technical barrier of entry to filter idiots out, even blocking IOS/Android access on a forum would be a start.

You'd think setting up an e-mail, phone number, ID verification, and running some bloated-ass website would be a higher barrier to entry than "/connect irc.rizon.net"

Discord communities are just groomer cells protected by the mods which also promote the grooming ideology. Ontop of that, they are fully baked into the communist WEF ideology and the terrorism.

4chan was really badly botted starting 2016, maybe earlier. With the post timer there's noticeably less activity on the site but also definitely less botting. It's a shame the true history of this site will never come to light because I'm sure some of the psyops run on here are truly, uniquely deranged. Ironically enought this place is now tamer and less extremist and less racist than IG or Substack or many other mainstream social media.

every single trend is first tested here, "dead internet theory" + the convenient rise of AI stuff, helped for the build up for digital id, that is starting to be slowly imposed. then all http will be dumped because of security, maybe all web browsers will be replaced by some new protocol, or they will keep it but only for corporate entities.

In order for the Internet to be 'dead', it would first have to be a living thing—which would be strange because the Internet doesn't meet the definition of life. So the Internet cannot be dead.

besides bots, the culture is dead as fuck. Real people started acting like NPCs and are indistinguishable. I swear to god any time there's a new trend, the algorithm for facebook and YouTube floods my feed with dozens variations of the same fucking joke. Nothing is novel or special anymore. For example, the Facebook algorithm knows I have a foot fetish, so I've seen the "husband refuses to massage wife's feet and she slaps his face" shit about 200 times.

at this point, 4chan is the last place that actually has any interesting discussion. I don't really care if there's bots because at least I can say retard without getting censored.

Browsing Twitter right now feels more like 4chan than modern 4chan, and no I'm not talking about the spicy opinions.
People don't post stuff they've worked on here anymore, they post it on Twitter. And it used to be that things would originate on 4chan then be regurgitated on Twitter or Reddit, but that culture cycle has reversed and now 4chan is full of twitter screencaps or reddit reposts.

That's probably the reason why people don't make effort posts anymore. There's just no incentive to do it, no sense of community anymore, and sometimes xitterfags/redditors/etc would steal content from here, capping it for easy engagement numbers.

In a way it's kind of based that 4chan is stealing content from another site now, so people don't have to go to other places to not miss any new stuff. They can enjoy a curated version of it here.

New generations are sovless because they have never experienced real fun. They are glued to their containment devices whether it is games they play or websites (more likely apps, they use apps for everything) and the oldfags are moving on, doing something else, many of them completely ignore the existence of the internet and just use it when they must. We really just need to start self hosting more stuff publicly, I scan a lot of ranges every day and I find some cool stuff, but it is nowhere near what it should be. People that have their own websites today have a fancy domain and have "polished" UI that must serve some purpose, it's usually just trying to sell you something. We need the stupid websites again, nobody is creative anymore. You have reddit, which does have a large archive of some good things, but it get's buried by american politics that are everywhere today. I couldn't give a damn about who the president is and what he's doing, all those things I filter immediately. People need to stop consuming everything. Just use a 8th gen laptop for everything, don't play games cause they are shit, even games are homosexual now, forget about politics as politics are completely meaningless and post random fun stuff. I legitimately enjoy more just browsing random wikipedia tech pages than 4chan now.

>New generations are sovless because they have never experienced real fun
I was referring to the present user base of 4chan and /g/, but I suppose Zoomers, tourists, and normalfags in general coming in and disregarding board culture, or even being openly hostile to it, is one of the causes.
>I legitimately enjoy more just browsing random wikipedia tech pages than 4chan now
There's still the occasional thread or general from which I learn something new/interesting, or can engage in some sort of meaningful argument, but most threads are often inane or for the sake of engagement.

I think 4chan is a pretty good place to find introductory information on something that isn't gimped due to concerns about piracy or other similar "ethical concerns". The board's wiki is interesting to read, even though it's not all that in-depth. The archives too.

There's a pretty big contrast between interactions from even just 5 years ago, and now. I know most oldfags will say that 4chan went to shit back in 20xx, but the quality of its interactions REALLY took a nosedive in recent years.
