Usually if a GPU get's stuck on a driver branch, that is truly the end with no expectation of anything beyond some extremely minor bug fixes. No control panel updates and no game specific optimizations or bug fixes

Both Nvidia and AMD otherwise don't branch off GPUs if they claim they support them. Even if Nvidia for example hasn't done a thing to optimize Turing GPUs for basic DX/OGL rending for years, you can still install the latest Nvidia driver branch and get some game specific optimizations that aren't dependent on GPU architecture. Even if those are minor
