The hueg sums being spent on AI, all the time, might have something to do with that.

Because "profit" in IT/software is created by human "inefficiency" which precludes ultimate AI automated efficiency, also known as Total AI Death.

>Where is the profit
The problem with AI is that its not useful enough to justify it's cost. Its neat for answering questions or making media, but that isn't useful in a business sense. The retail consumers like it for memes and such, but that isn't good enough for most to be willing to pay a subscription. They could introduce ads, but that would just push people away. AI needs to be indispensable to people's workflows for them to be able to monetize it and actually make a profit.

>chatbot needs 9999999 nigawatts per second to run
>chatbot needs 9001 GPUs to work
>the GPUs die
>even those that don't die become obsolete and must be replaced
>meaning all those fancy GPU clusters won't last even two years
>AI "engineers" get paid hundreds of millions and given big packages just so other companies don't poach them
>they announce more features and more integrations every day meaning their workload is always growing
Gee, I wonder why these chatbots aren't profitable. Surely a system that requires millions of dollars every day to run is profitable.
