Is there any possibility we will be able to create useful decentralized applications that aren't crypto scams in the future, or are dapps just a gimmick?

I'd guess some stuff like file sharing but feds would probably spam illegal material tog et it shut down.

Like they shut down Tor and I2P and Freenet?
The issue isn't getting shut down by the Feds. The issue is that autists have been corralled by crypto grifting into a dapp subculture that has completely failed on all of its promises, except pumping a ginormous tulip bubble.

They did it with Freenet yes, and they publish and adverstise it on Tor themselves. I2P is relatively unknown because they could neother control it like Tor nor auto-infect it like freenet

You just need one game company to tell VISA/MC to fuck themselves and create an NFT market, where these NFTs represent licenses. Imagine I2PSnark or Hyphanet distribution, smart contract game licenses which can be traded on a secondary market.

Why is nobody using these things??

Isn't ETH like the worst network to do dapps? The only real project currently doing something that even can be considered an application is that nigger spamming that altchan alternative on /g/, but I don't see anyone using it when gas alone costs like $3. Do you really want to spend $3 to post on a dead chan?

A) Every crypto-based game has been dog shit and eventually dies out. If you make a game with the incentive to play to "earn" it's native crypto, people will treat it like a money farming simulator rather than a game. However a NFT based license is unique, dunno anyone would make that though.

B) Every normie that has "gotten into crypto" has been burned by memecoins. With point A combined with this thinking of crypto is a scam, do you really think any game company would take the risk of advertising "Hey we're making a game where you need to buy an NFT to access it" and have the public shit on them; AND have their reputation forever ruined by touching anything crypto related?

Besides everything I said, I do see a future (not on ETH) where a dapp needs a NFT to access (say a private forum).

It needs chip mixers to be legal for anonymity but hashchan is pretty cool. It puts an imageboard in the ethereum event logs and runs on localhost, so you some nice things like no fake post success messages, shadow bans, geofences, community fences, paywalls, speech = reach, archival backupcstreaming at blockspeed distributed globally and yeah, no cloudflare, captchas and bots have to support ethereum if they want to flood

Utter perfection

Ah thanks
>but I don't see anyone using it when gas alone costs like $3. Do you really want to spend $3 to post on a dead chan?

Depending on the chain its between like 0.00001 and 3 to post. But its no cloudflare, google tag, no x subscription no 4ch pass, no ads, distributed archive abd cryptographic proof of post, you get a lot for the cost.

Hashchan is for after everyone assumes dead internet reality and when nation states or international corps need a communication layer, but dont trust each others firewalled splinternets

I need to live in the woods. Just let me live on the mackenzie river to fish trap and hunt and youll never see me online or on the pavement again. Doing hashchan has been the most revealing thing in witnessing how locked down the net has already come. If i didnt have a frequently recurring childhood dream of living in the forest id be begging you to make me the next mushigian, lemp or maloney
