>>107136132 when i search with ecosia i dont block ads so they get revenue and block the other sites with ublock origin, you can choose some sites to have ads. Also if you dont care about tree count you dont have to login.
>>107136239 for their defense you can turn it off also they use renewable for every search so nothing comes from fossil fuel in theory,in practise yeah it sucks.Dont forget they are a tech company so....
>>107136267 >does ai kill trees?
Well if you believe a lot of Anti-AI tard, you would think AI drains away all drinking water. That's a massive simplification of the story.
>>107136350 i dont except my grandma to turn it off because probably doesnt even know what what is google.I expect although tech know how bros to use it as default search engine.

No but they do get cleared out to make way for some data center no one in the area asked for because the city council members who represent them who sold out.
i dont think i have a best alternative right now that has a good market share of search engines and also they are pro environment,ok AI sucks also to even use their platform for searches uses google or bing datacenter so nothing comes without a cost. But i dont think there is a better alternative.
I suspect if I asked for proof that my searches have planted any trees, I'd receive a picture of a 40 year old white oak. If I'm lucky I won't even be able to spot the AI watermark.

they have a youtube channel that shows all their initiatives ,they also have been certified as b corporation.I know its not exactly a proof ,but is good as it gets for the average user.

I'd rather just pay directly, at least then I'd know where the money was coming from and going to, rather than deal with ads. Ads are cringe, fake and gay.
>>107135815 (OP) >>107137381 >how does typing in "[video game] collectibles guide" help plant a tree >ad revenue >ad is for Ultra-Tree-Raper-9000 Chainsaws >other ads are lumber suppliers
W-we did it!

they basically use renewables in Germany(i think) around 200% of their needs ,but the servers etc are in the us the most of them. Its not exactly balance ,but its the best so far.
>>107138153
i have planted around 5 trees (its an approximation) ,but i also use incognito all the time so basically i have planted a lot more .good job nevertheless

The country known for being reliant on Russian gas. If they dispensed with the AI crap they could achieve more than 200% and make Germany even more sustainable. Search engines used to be good without AI so its not impossible
