What happened to FUN in computing?
Why does everything now have to be streamlined, overly optimized for the dumbest fucks and must have proven use cases? When did everything get so overly serious?

If you're talking about FOSS: money. Big orgs like Redhat sell support. They don't care how fun it is. Fun always came from the autistic hobbists.
But that stuff ever went away. Even gnome on wayland can still have wobbly windows that burn when you close them.

For me it's the current economy. I started programming and other tech related stuff for fun but now I'm always nervous about losing my job so I try to streamline everything.

it is insane how much you can build yourself while you could buy product from a store

but nothing is streamlined or overly optimized, it's not fun either
