Should I still continue doing my computer science degree as an American? I'll probably graduate in 2029 but I'm afraid that 4 years from now my degree will be useless and all the jobs will be taken over by jeets and AI.

No one knows the future, but you won't be looking at an easy 6 figures entry level job in all likelihood, so if you're in it primarily for the money, pick something else.

Well I hope that's the case because I actually value experience over money, unironically I'm willing to work full-time minimum wage if it means getting my foot in the door and having first-hand experience in the tech job market, I just hope in the future that this option would still be available and not just be completely dead or extremely difficult to get my first tech job.

You're 20 years late to the party. Also note university isn't so much about the education but more about networking and making friends in positions of power. All jobs I've ever got were due to having someone in the company I used to drink with back in uni. That's just the way the world works.

This is your first pitfall. Never do this, it's a scam. These companies have a conveyors belt of fresh graduates willing to work unpaid or for minimum wage. Once they have used you for 6-12 months they will get someone new in.

I get that but considering how shitty the current market is I may not have a choice but to do this otherwise my option is to be forever unemployed, again we're talking about a potential situation 4 years from now so everything could be radically different than today so idk lol

I'm socially retarded so I'll probably be fucked when it comes to networking

I'm presuming you're young and I'm just warning you. These companies have no loyalty to you, they do not care about you in any regard. They see you as expendable, especially when you're coming in as a junior/intern. My first job out of uni was working IT in a recruiting/head hunting firm (I would scrap hundreds of thousands of employees details, post fake job posting to harvest resumes & personal data, etc.) and it was common practice for these companies to recruit people with no pay and no intention of offering a fixed position afterwards. You can argue "but I'm gaining experience", the reality is these companies see you were working as an intern for 6month and presume you weren't good enough to be offered a fixed position. It's very easy to get stuck in this hamster wheel. I truly wish you all the best anon but IT isn't the industry it used to be back in the day and I only see it getting worse.
