The way regular mouses make you twist your arm to nearly full inwards rotation slightly pinches your nerves and that combined with the over use of the index finger is what leads to wrist problems later (on leyboard it isn't as much of an issue because your hand doesn't stay static in the same position and you use all fingers). Controllers keep the wrist in resting position.
The main issue about controllers is that they make you press harder than with your fingers than kb and mouse, so they hurt a bit sometimes. But all you have to do is take a 5min break and that's it. It won't lead to long term issues like the mouse can (or people like proffessional guitar players would have to retire at like 30 because of pressing way harder for tens of thousands of hours).
If you don't have one, you should buy somethijg like the logitech ergo or a vertical mouse for non-gaming pc use and only use a regular mouse for gaming. It will reduce the chances you develop wrist issues a lot.
