Xbox almost had an intel deal and Ngreedia has no permission to do x86.

History, experience, and relationships acquired from ATI (GameCube and XBox 360).
At the time of the XBox One, Intel was just taking baby steps into their graphics not being garbage, and Nvidia had no CPU solution, so the one place to go for everything was AMD. Plus at the time, AMD would take literally anything they could get, and bend over backwards for you. Intel was riding high and would demand high prices, and Nvidia had shown bad behavior in their relationship with Apple.

Existing relationships matter, so now it's a lot of inertia.

that matters a lot less on consoles, ngreedia is even more of a nightmare than intel and far more greedy, nintendo has gotten obsolete unsold tegra soc's for all their nvidia powered consoles

It's custom made. You can't just go out and buy a PC with an NVIDIA APU in it. You need a special dev kit to even target it properly.

I get what you're trying to say but to be precise the switch doesn't have a stock Tegra chips, they're custom. Of course you could say, close enough.

I forgot to mention, Nvidia would not work because they can't do x86 and ARM wouldn't cut it because that would make most games incompatible with most Steam games. Intel could do it but their APUs are inferior to AMD in price, performance and features. To be cheap you want an APU not a CPU+dGPU, so AMD is the only choice that makes sense.
