>Sandisk Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive
>1TB
>400MB/s r/w USB 3.2 gen 1

Will this thing self combust if left permanently on my PC as extra game storage?
I hate having to wire an external SSD the size of a little brick.

Problem then becomes the wire. I like the direct connection the extreme fit provides.

400MB/s that's worse than a fucking microSD Express card which can do 800MB/s.

But they're faster. What's so Extreme about half the speed of a fucking SD card? In theory USB-C can do 10-gigabits per-second if the controller was good enough and heat dissipation wasn't an issue.
>Do better SanDisk

nice hologram sticker though

Ya of course, shits tiny
>>107192009
Heat dissipation was my main concern with the size, thing is bound to get toasty if you're doing any heavier tasks.

How come you still have to look for a fast usb drive to get something decent even today?

If you were to pick up a generic USB drive today many of them would be sub 10-20MB/s write speed.

Where do they even source such garbage flash and/or controllers?

USB's are designed to be cheap because nobody uses them for anything serious so you have to look really hard for a decent one because people only use it for transferring files about and "runs like dogshit" and "might eat your data" are considered features.

If you want something good then you buy an SSD or NVMe enclosure.

This will be the external hard drive replacement? For some reason, people think it's weird when you have lots of old, perfectly working 40-120GB hard drives in use but 1TB on a tiny usb stick is fine.

It would be funny to buy a load of them and run them in RAID 0 and then wait and see how long it takes for everything to break.

Flash memory usually only gets hot and slow when you write to it.
If it still survives after that, you're basically good for at least 10 years.
