/hpg/ - Headphones General
Let's talk about your favorites headphones in this thread.

What is the big difference between the different earbuds of pic related?
Anonymous No.107203727 [Report] >>107203781
You posted IEMs, that belongs to /iemg/.
This is /hpg/. We talk about headphones.

Oh sorry I thought it was earbuds, on ear and over ear headphones all in the same thread.

so since this is headphones general I'm looking for decent universal neutral headphones that will be used for
>listening to music
>amateur music production
>field recordings
>gaming

currently considering Beyerdynamic DT 770 and Shure 440a
770 seems to be more popular but 440a has a detachable cord

No there literally is a thread only for IEMs and earbuds, it's good to keep them separate because we here at /hpg/ want absolutely nothing to do with those people.

I wouldn't recommend using only one headphone for all of those tasks, but if you're ok with doing all of them at an "it works" level, then you have some options, plus it seems you're looking for pretty cheap stuff. Just remember: Jack of all trades, master of none.
Maybe consider an AKG K361.

What is good noise canceling headphones for daily use on the street and commute? Noise canceling is a must.
I know Sony MXs are recommended a lot, but I don't really see the list of good enough headphones. It like there's sony and everything else.

You mostly only see Sony because the XM6 are the top of the line when it comes to noise cancelling and maybe the only competition would be the new airpods pro 3 and that's about it. Plus they're only 250€ so

naked cable in foldable headphones doesn't seem very durable
Anonymous No.107204055 [Report]

The cable is quickly replaceable unlike the Beyers or the Shure. They're foldable so you can take them to those "field recordings".
The sound is slightly better than the DT770 or the Shure.
Personally can't help much more since I don't use closed back headphones and I don't have or try cheap headphones.

>universal neutral headphones
No such thing because headphones remove physiology from the listening equation. Studio monitors aren't made to be neutral, they're made to be cheap and hygienic devices you can use while monitoring a live recording for equipment errors.
>Beyerdynamic DT 770 and Shure 440a
Shure or AT. Beyer and AKG are fall apart shit now.

I am enjoying them. They are much more comfortable to wear than my old momentums and block out way more outside noise. I couldn't do a side-by-side comparison sadly because the momentums I had were basically unusable at this point. I still *feel* like I am hearing a hearing a wider range of sound than I was before. I've been playing BF6 and there's plenty of opportunities in that game to hear lots of high treble and low bass. I *feel* like I'm hearing more than before.

Just to reiterate I am not an audiophile, but these headphones completely satisfy me. There's nothing annoying about them. They sound nice. They're comfortable. That's about as much genuine feedback as I can offer before I start feeling like I'm making shit up or experiencing placebo.

A thread just in time for me shit on my new T50RP.
Shit fucking sucks.
Reviews warned me about driver mismatch but I was not ready for 3 (THREE) dB swings in left-right balance all over the frequency range.
Sure this is not a calibrated stereo head or anything, just a normal mono mic fixed next to a driver and sealed to minimize leaks and echoes one by one, but the channel difference was consistent after a dozen tests at different angles and consistent with what my ears heard.

Your standards must be extremely low.

I decided why not and just bought MX5 on sale. I mean it's alright. Isolation is good, mic is good. Sound is just ok. Without an EQ it's extremely bassy. The worst thing is that godafwull touchpad. Who thought it's better than one or two buttons is beyond me.
