>>459771I'm not talking about real flags that are geometric an simple, but the proposals many are making. A lot follow that meme flag manifesto like it is the only truth, they make flags that on paper are fine, but are actual shit.
Look at picrel, all but one are kiddie-tier vector landscapes. Uninspired, it was probably made by an actual kid, but that same spirit is present in a lot of designs made my modern vexiology enthusiasts, which are on a smug crusade to change everything to their shit standards.
Other flag proposals are designed to be more like logos than a flag, I get wanting to make a flexible design, but slapping an svg in the center of a rectangle, completely separated from the context of the flag makes it look like a corporate flag. Overly simplified objects are also something you see in modern proposals, it is related to curves and lines where the angle and shape of the curve are so specific that it defeats the idea of "So simple even a child could draw them".
I also personally dislike using clever negative space or other modern tricks, probably just an old man yelling at a cloud situation, but also they are often not as clever as they think they are and come out as lame.
