If your just trying to start your career, I'd suggest working a bit on your skills rather then just using filters and sliders.
From a graphic design perspective, there isn't a lot going on. The image's construction is basic and does not invoke any emotion or tell a story. The overlays and filters make it a bit less appealing.
If your trying to convey nostalgia, I'd suggest using real hardware and playing with it.
Check out some local garage sales and thrift shops. CRT TV's are a lot more common then you might think. There's a ton of cool circuit bending you can do to make your work shine. For instance, you can bend, color and warp an image using magnets.

Making your work with actual hardware can vastly improve how well it conveys a message.
Try circuit bending an old goodwill digital camera for video effects rather then adding 50 filters with photoshop.

If your going the camera route, I'd suggest learning about photography a bit.
The image you have filtered is a generic marshland with nothing to draw in the viewers attention. Pick a focal point, then use your camera to capture a unique angle. It could be a large tree, a jagged stump or a patch of reeds. But give the viewer something to process while absorbing the whole image.
