I'm trying to turn the object on the left; which I drew manually on paint.net into a vector graphics object so I can easily edit and move it around. I am trying to do this using Inkscape.

The issue is, whanever I try to Trace Bitmap using the 'Pixel Art' tool, it ends up creating all these tiny white lines. It seems to make a thousand superfluous tiny little squares.

Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to manually trace every single one of these objects? There are far too many.

Don't use Pixel Art, just use Single scan "Autotrace" or Multicolor "colors" and turn down Smooth Corners completely. Pixel art isn't going to give you the results you want.

Yeah, see, that's the thing; I *tried* that, but it ends up fuucking up the items and creating these weird holes.

That didn't happen with with my version (Linux, 1.4), but honestly that's an easy manual fix. You should be able to put a little effort in, no? Your designs are pretty good and simple enough that redrawing some of it shouldn't be hard. That's part of being an artist!

The issue is that I'm going to be doing a lot of those. I mean a lot. There are a *lot* of alterations. The real ones have enumerations with number symbols, and there are different weapon symbols .

And I should add, there's also "Cavalry" or "Special" boxes which also change the design entirely and would need to be done by hand.

There's just...a lot. If I could find a way to avoid those spaces it'd save a lot of time.

I sympathize, anon. It sounds like the lesson here is that you maybe should have originally used a vector art tool rather than a raster art one. It's trivial to export a vector image as a bitmap, but the inverse is not easy. It's probably better if you redraw everything in Inkscape, as painful as that will be. I've done a bunch of pixel art in Inkscape and it's a clumsy process but once you have a good workflow it's not too bad.

But then I'd have to draw every single number and symbol, no?

Anyway, luckily, I might have found a way around it? I tried using all the options, and Stacking seems to have fixed it? I don't know why or if it has any drawbacks, but I don't see any white spot.

Anybody here still?

Like I said, >>460159 seems to have fixed it but I still feel like it'd be better if i could just have the pixelated weapon symbol. It looks better.

Is there really no way to pixelate the weapon by itself without creating a thousand tiny squares within?
