The pilot "asks" the plane to do a certain maneuvers based upon what the computer is getting for information, i.e. airspeed, air density, engine rpm, angle of attack, barometric pressure (altitude), flight control positions, and throttle input, (short list)
The plane does what it does not by pilot input but by flight envelope.
This is how fly-by-wire works, (old tech) now it is fly by light, which now there is 20 times (or way more depending upon system) the data stream to the computer.
So yes what the voice over is saying is correct..
Imagine if you are on approach and you flub the landing attempt and have to go around, certain FBW systems will ignore firewalling the throttle to get more power for a go around..
