Recessive genes dont disappear when having a baby with someone who doesnt share them. Your offspring just becomes a "Carrier".
Its absolutely possible to be black, indian, Japanese etc. and be a carrier of genes like the Ginger gene, even if you dont look it, just because your mum or dad like 80 years ago was white.
And if you had kids with someone else of mixed ancestry who also carried the gene, even from generations ago with no immediate white family, you can have children with the gene presenting in their look.
We'll probably see more of this as time goes on with mixed couples have a kid with dark or olive skin and red hair + freckles.
