Is it really just because it's the setting for the ancient equivalent of capeshit marvel slop movies? It is an utterly barbaric place stuck in medieval times. If you are reading this post then you probably live in a country with great advancement in medical care and guaranteed national safety. Everyone in these places wakes up to bomb sirens or missile strikes. If it was ever "holy" land, it was forsaken by God a long ass time ago. So why does the civilized world (AKA literally anyone else) even care about these sand dunes?

pretty much, yeah. I guess the fact there are oil lands there and the suez cannel, but pretty much the only reason anyone cares about the MENA is due to the number of historic events that took place there that are considered part of the western canon (not just the bible stuff, but also egypt and troy and the ottomans ect)
if the same conflict happened in asia no one would give a shit. hell india and pakistan fucking have nukes and no one fucking cares if the nuke each other
