As far as I know about this guy, he just hated on everything while building nothing. He mumbled about Superman or whatever but ended up mind broken and his delusions rendered uneffective if anything, is that right?

Nietzsche and his followers are depressed people man . He wanted to fight nihilism which he predicted will annihilate entire western society which happens after fall of traditional institutions which was actually necessary to make society free from fear and corruption of churches. But he knew it would destroy entire society and he was right. He couldn't find any alternative to christianity . His idea of Übersmensche didn't work.
