Why was Russia seen as an ally to the anti-colonial struggle, despite it being a White European Empire?

People don't blame Russia enough for all the nigger revolutions they caused all across Africa

You can hate the USSR but it wasn’t an empire in the traditional sense. It didn’t station soldiers in other countries outside of Europe post wwii and it didn’t impose its language on conquered peoples.

In Africa, colonialism was like Rhodesia with Englishmen enacting race laws and imposing Christianity. There weren’t Russian soldiers in Africa doing that stuff. I don’t even like USSR but it wasn’t the same thing.

Like it or not, the USSR actually built shit and provided services and the same rights to everyone. It annexed regions into itself, but it was no more an empire than the current UK is an empire because Wales, Scotland and NI are sort of "subservient" to Westminster.
Compare that to the British Empire, which treated it's colonies like complete and total fucking shit, basically left people to rot in squalor, only build infrastructure for extractive purposes, then when they peaced out, burned and salted the ashes.

US, France, UK, Japan, etc, etc murdered off people of a land, and stole its resources.

Russia made them citizens that paid taxes, had voting rights, pensions, etc. Normal citizens. Where the state paid resources into the land to developed it normally.

Russia really is a unique civilization onto itself.

Both of these things happened. USSR had troops in several Warsaw pact countries (remember Hungary?) and Russian was mandated as a second language to be taught in schools, replacing the traditional foreign language that was usually French.

The USSR liked to brand itself as anti-racist.
